McConnahea scores 4 to lead Wildcats past Lady Bulldog kickers

DELPHOS - The visiting Ada girls soccer team lost to Delphos Jefferson 5-1 Wednesday evening in a Northwest Conference match.
Jefferson senior midfielder Maddie McConnahea scored four goals to lead the Wildcats to victory.
The Lady Bulldogs drop to 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the Northwest Conference with the road defeat. DJ improves to 6-7 and 4-2 in league action with the win.
Jefferson led 1-0 at intermission after a breakaway goal by McConnahea.
"We had a fairly evenly-matched first half," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "
McConnahea netted two quick goals early in the second half on similar plays to build a 3-0 lead.
Ada's Katie Butterfield netted the lone Bulldog goal to cut the deficit to 3-1. But DJ responded with a score off a penalty kick.
McConnahea closed the scoring with her fourth goal on another breakaway.
Ada put 13 shots on goal to 18 by DJ. Bulldog keeper Ella Poling made 13 saves in goal.
The Lady Bulldogs also fell at Columbus Grove Monday by a 2-1 count. Butterfield tallied the lone Ada goal again.
Poling was credited with 11 saves in goal as both teams got 13 shots off on goal. CG ran its record to 1-6 and 1-3 in the NWC with the upset win.
The Bulldogs play at last-place Paulding (0-9, 0-3 NWC) Saturday, October 6. Drawing for sectional play will be held Sunday afternoon.
