Ada officially goes to the dogs on Saturday
By Monty Siekerman
The Ada Dog Park officially opens at 11 a.m. on Saturday. All dogs (owners, too) are invited to a brief ceremony. And, there will be dog treats for all of the puppies.
The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting ceremony. Mayor Dave Retterer and Ken Lauria, of the Ada Dog Park Association, will make brief remarks. Then, it’s playtime for the dogs at the new 100’ by 300’ facility.
There is a shelter house, trees have been planted, water is available...and plenty of poop bags are on hand.
The Ada Dog Park Association has led the planning and fundraising, with the support of the Park Board. Association leaders are Cathy Cole, Chris Keiser, Jimmy Wilson, and Ken Lauria. They met their fundraising goal and saw to it that the park would open within a year.
The Ada Dog Park is located at the east end of Lehr Avenue (at Main, turn east at the Church of Christ). It is located on the north side of War Memorial Park.
