Bring a lawn chair, sit back and enjoy the outdoor conocert

Traditionally, the ONU Jazz Band plays music in Railroad Park the Friday before commencement. This year the instrumentals will give a casual performance from 5-7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair, sit back, and enjoy the outdoor concert.

New members were inducted into the Ada High School National Honor Society during a May 9 evening program.

Marilyn R. Hancock, 87, died May 10, 2018, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. Marilyn was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Lima. On Aug.18, 1952, she married Alexander Hancock who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1998.

Marilyn graduated from Ada High School and was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Pinochle Club and member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church.

Lots of family-friendly events on the schedule

A changing of the guard will take place at the 47th annual Bluffton Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, May 12.

Vendor manager emeritus Jerry Burkholder is showing the ropes to incoming manager Lauren Canaday and Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Paula Scott.

“Jerry’s been part of the event for it’s entire history,” explains Scott, “so we feel confident and excited—and that we won’t really appreciate how it all comes together until after the show!”

Some 60 vendors will fill Bluffton’s downtown business district for the festival. There will also be a variety of free family activities and entertainment.

Two Ada residents were among graduates at the Bluffton University 118th annual commencement on May 6.

• Garrett Beachey received a bachelor’s degree in youth ministries with a minor in church communication.

• Taylor Risner received a bachelor’s degree in intervention specialist.
