The season is on the way

It may look mixed up now, but soon there will be order to this collection of Christmas display pieces. These pieces are at the Ada park awaiting for the season to arrive.

Amy Fanous tells Kiwanis members about the Health Wire program at ONU

President Myrna McCurdy called the sixth meeting (November 6th) of the 2012–2013 Kiwanis Year to order at 12:02 noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The following guests were introduced: Amy Fanous Pharmacy Resident ONU Health Wise (speaker); Katie Lorson and Allie Puntel, ONU Circle K.

Member Accomplishments: Joe Ferguson reported that books had been purchased for Head Start children as part for the annual Christmas Luncheon/Auction. They will need to be taken to Head Start in McGuffey. Bob McCurdy was also thanked for his excellent presentation at last night’s Town and Gown Banquet. Jim Turner was named 2012 Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

The local Relay for Life is taking orders for homemade pumpkin pies for $8 each at the McIntosh Center from Nov. 7 to 14 during lunch (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.-1) and dinner (5 to 7 p.m.) hours.

The pies will be pre-ordered and delivered Thursday, Nov. 15, and Friday, Nov. 16.

Also, from Nov. 12 to 14, the Relay we will sell pumpkin pie slices on the spot for $1 each.

Ohio Northern University to present 18th annual Holiday Spectacular

 

Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents the 18th annual Holiday Spectacular from Thursday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. There will be a matinee performance on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m.

In addition, there will be performances at the Civic and Convention Center in Lima, Ohio, on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m.

The show is underwritten in part by the DeBow and Catherine Freed Endowment for the Arts and Kewpee Hamburger.

ONU among best in Ohio bar passage rate

 

Graduates of the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law continued their record of outstanding achievement on the Ohio bar examination with a passage rate of 89 percent, which ranks second among students from all Ohio law schools who took the examination in 2012 and highest among all private Ohio law schools.

ONU’s passage rate was well above the overall passage rate of 80.8 percent.

In addition, 91 percent of Ohio Northern’s graduates who were taking the test for the first time passed the test, which is higher than the overall first-time passage rate of 85 percent statewide.
