Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters showing at Ada Theatre starting Jan. 24

Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters will the showing at the Ada Theatre starting Thursday Jan. 24 and running thru Thursday, Feb. 7, according to James Curlis of the Theatre.  

In this spin on the fairy tale, Hansel & Gretel are now bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past. (IMDb)

It's premier will be in 3D at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Kiwanis members hear about Wilson football factory history

President Myrna McCurdy called the 14th meeting (January 22nd) of the 2012–2013 Kiwanis year to order at noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

Jon Umphress offered the invocation by Jon Umphress.

Merle and Lucille Cheney were welcomed as guests.

The member birthdays of Mark Light and Tom Kier were noted.

The membership anniversaries of Scott Wills 1/28/04  and Marilyn Green  1/24/2004 were also noted.

It was reported that member Mark Light was at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. on Monday.

No. 18 wrestling stays atop OAC with 42-4 victory at John Carroll

No. 18-ranked Ohio Northern got first period pins from senior Kyle Raber and junior Michael Pawlitz and posted a 42-4 Ohio Athletic Conference wrestling victory at John Carroll Tuesday night at the Don Shula Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 13-2 overall and stay atop the OAC with a 2-0 record, while the Blue Streaks fall to 3-5, 0-2.

ONU won nine of the 10 weight classes and are now 18-2 in OAC dual meet action this year.

Raber won by fall in 1:08 at 184 pounds and Pawlitz followed with a pin in 52 seconds at 197 pounds.

Raber improves to 6-5 on the season and Pawlitz is now 21-4 with a team-best 11 pins.

Dysert in the Senior Bowl

Ada's Zac Dysert playing in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26

Miami University's record-setting quarterback and Ada native Zac Dysert has been invited to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26 (4 p.m. ET), at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

The game will be nationally televised by the NFL Network.

Dysert is the 15th Miami player and the first since 2005 to earn an invitation to the nation's most unique football game and football's premier senior showcase event. The Senior Bowl annually features the country's best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that will be coached by the coaching staffs of the Detroit Lions and the Oakland Raiders.

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce holds celebration dinner

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce held its celebration dinner on Jan. 16 and announced significant dates for 2013 and made Board of Director appointments for 2013, 2014 and 2015.
