Ada's Zac Dysert playing in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26
Miami University's record-setting quarterback and Ada native Zac Dysert has been invited to play in the 2013 Senior Bowl, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26 (4 p.m. ET), at Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
The game will be nationally televised by the NFL Network.
Dysert is the 15th Miami player and the first since 2005 to earn an invitation to the nation's most unique football game and football's premier senior showcase event. The Senior Bowl annually features the country's best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects on teams representing the North and South that will be coached by the coaching staffs of the Detroit Lions and the Oakland Raiders.
Miami's all-star signal-caller, who finished his career with 12,013 yards-ranking 20th on the NCAA's all-time FBS list-joins fellow QBs Mike Glennon of North Carolina State, Landry Jones of Oklahoma, EJ Manual of Florida State, Ryan Nassib of Syracuse and Tyler Wilson of Arkansas.
Dysert threw for 3,483 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2012, completing 62.9 percent of his passes and averaging 290 yards per game. He broke Miami's career passing yardage record, previously held by Ben Roethlisberger.
Among the All-Americans with whom or against Dysert will be playing are Oregon running back Kenjon Barber, Wisconsin running back Montee Ball and UCLA running back Jonathan Franklin.
Senior Bowl practices are also attended by more than 800 general managers, head coaches, assistant coaches, scouts and other front office personnel from the 32 National Football League teams, making Mobile and the Senior Bowl the week-long host to a one-of-a-kind NFL Coaches Convention.
Dysert indicated that he will travel to Mobile on Jan. 19.
