A vote for this Marimor student may help him and his parents

Owen Weaver, a Marimor student from Bluffton, needs your help. A vote in his behalf might go a long way.

Owen’s parents, Chad and Melissa Weaver,  are trying to obtain a wheelchair van. As part of Mobility Awareness Month, three such vans will be given away. Owen’s parents have a chance to win one of the three because Owen was selected to participate in the van project.

The Icon asked Owen’s mother to explain the project and how you can help. Here’s the explanation in her words:

Breitigam earns Honorable Mention All-America honors in 200 fly

Junior Jordan Breitigam shattered his school record and won the Consolation Finals in the 200 fly on Day 3 of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Friday evening at the Conroe Natatorium in Shenandoah, Tex.

Breitigam earned Honorable Mention All-America honors by finishing ninth in 1:47.46, which broke his school record set in the prelims Friday afternoon.

His time was also the third-fastest in the meet and was better than six of the eight men in the finals.

Breitigam was ninth in the prelims in 1:48.76, which was just .16 seconds shy of eighth place and was a new ONU record at the time.

ONU presents reading by author Simone Muench

The Ohio Northern University Department of English presents author Simone Muench in the Pettit College of Law Moot Court room on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Muench was raised in Louisiana and Arkansas and now lives in Chicago. She is the author of “The Air Lost in Breathing” (Marianne Moore Prize for Poetry), “Lampblack & Ash” (Kathryn A. Morton Prize for Poetry), “Orange Crush,” and “Disappearing Address,” co-written with Philip Jenks.

Ohio Northern University to host 38th annual Law Review Symposium

Ohio Northern University presents the 38th annual Law Review Symposium, “Congress on the Red Carpet: Legislation Impacting the Entertainment and Social Media Industries,” in the Pettit College of Law’s Moot Court Room on Friday, April 19. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. This symposium is open to the public.
        
The speakers will discuss the various areas of entertainment law with specific focus on the music, television, sports, social media and art industries. At this year’s ONU Law Review Symposium, individuals will have the opportunity to see where the law and these industries intersect from the viewpoints of those who make it all possible.

A petition that would have placed a referendum item on the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s (OHSAA) May ballot that called for all OHSAA tournaments to be conducted separately for public schools and non-public schools has been removed from the ballot, Commissioner Daniel B. Ross, Ph.D., has announced.
