Ohio Northern University will host its Spring Social Studies Day in the Dicke Forum on Friday, April 29, at 9 a.m.
The intent of this event is to provide area high school students and teachers with a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the social studies. More than 100 students and their teachers from Ada High School, Lima Senior High School and Piqua High School are scheduled to attend.
The event begins with James F. Dicke II, chairman and CEO of Crown Equipment Corporation, who will discuss “William M. McCulloch and the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”
Robert Waters, assistant professor of history at ONU, will discuss “The Civil Rights Movement,” and Russ Crawford, associate professor of history at ONU, will discuss “Sports and Integration.”
The event will conclude with Emily Mohr, a sophomore history major from Payne, Ohio, and Nathaniel Bracy, a junior social studies major from Wapakoneta, Ohio, discussing “Digital History at ONU.”
