Hardin County Sheriff and Ada native Keith Everhart is one happy guy this Christmas season.
On the sheriff’s office Facebook page is a story about an anonymous donor who gave more than $3,000 to the sheriff’s office.
The purpose: To distribute cash in $100 bills to persons in the community who were deserving and in need of financial help for the holidays.
And so, sheriff deputies went to work. After meeting with his staff, deputies compiled a list persons who deserved some of the cash.
Next the deputies starting to “pulled them over.” According to the sheriff’s Facebook story, written by Dan Robinson of the Kenton Times:
“The exchanges were caught on video by officers’ body cameras and show the officers approaching the “offending” cars. In two of the videos, Deputy Joe Carl asks the driver if she knows why they were stopped. When the drivers responded they didn’t know what they had done wrong, Carl explained, “Santa said you deserve this.” He then handed them the money.
Carl said that he got three criers and one hug as a result.
