Ohio Northern University has named 2001 graduates Todd Bailey and Natalie DiPietro Mager as co-recipients of the William L. Robinson Young Alumni of the Year Award.
The award is given each year to individuals who are committed to Ohio Northern University, his/her profession and the community. The award is named in honor of Bill Robinson, a 1961 Ohio Northern graduate who served the University for more than 50 years in numerous capacities and has been a positive influence on countless students and alumni.
Todd Bailey
Bailey is senior vice president, director of government relations at Huntington Bancshares Inc., a $69 billion asset regional bank holding company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with a network of more than 700 branches and almost 1,500 ATMs across six Midwestern states.
There, Bailey leads the company’s elected official engagement, legislative advocacy and public policy efforts across Huntington’s franchise states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky. He also was previously responsible for the corporation’s social media program, including its engagement, content and customer service strategies.
Previously, Bailey was corporate communications manager at Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines (now ExpressJet), where he managed merger, bankruptcy and labor negotiation communication for the company. Additional previous posts include corporate communications specialist at Huntington and communications coordinator at the Ohio Bankers League.
Bailey currently serves as chair of the Public Relations Society of America – East Central District board, representing nearly 3,000 members across 16 chapters and six states, and he is a past president of PRSA Central Ohio.
Additionally, Bailey, who graduated from Van Buren High School, is a member of the national Champions for PRSSA and a professional adviser to ONU PRSSA. In 2011, he was inducted into the National PRSSA Hall of Fame, and in 2007 he was named as the recipient of the PRSA Central Ohio Walt Seifert Award, recognizing outstanding service to PRSSA students, PRSSA chapters in Central Ohio and the national PRSSA body.
Bailey serves on the board of directors of Canine Companions for Independence – North Central Region, which covers 14 states from North Dakota south to Kansas and east to Western Pennsylvania. Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence is the largest nonprofit provider of assistance dogs, helping to enhance the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.
Natalie DiPietro Mager
Currently, DiPietro Mager is an associate professor of pharmacy practice at ONU teaching in the areas of public health, pharmacy administration and pharmacy professionalism. Her research interests include the role of the pharmacist in public health and maternal and child health. DiPietro Mager’s research has been presented at 40 state and national meetings, and she has 20 peer-reviewed publications. In addition she has been invited to speak about maternal and child health to state and national audiences. She is also a licensed pharmacist in the state of Ohio
Throughout her tenure as a professor DiPietro Mager has received numerous accolades. She and a team of her colleagues received the Innovations in Teaching Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in 2013 and the Presentation Merit Award from the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management in 2011.
She was honored with the Young Public Health Professional of the Year Award by the Ohio Public Health Association in 2011. She was also tabbed as the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year at Ohio Northern for the 2007-08 year. In addition, DiPietro Mager has been inducted into many honor societies including Delta Omega, Rho Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of the Omega, Gamma Sigma Alpha, and Alpha Lambda Delta.
Prior to coming to Ohio Northern University, DiPietro Mager was employed by Eli Lilly and Company for six years. She completed the Visiting Scientist Fellowship Program in the Lilly Centre for Women’s Health in 2002, which focused on women’s health issues and diseases that disproportionately or differentially affect women. She then worked in clinical drug development until 2004. From 2004-2007, she worked in Global Regulatory Affairs in the areas of pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology.
DiPietro Mager is currently active in several professional and volunteer organizations. She is a member of the American Public Health Association, American Pharmacists Association and Ohio Pharmacists Association. In 2013, she was elected chair of the Public Health Special Interest Group of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Also in 2013, she co-founded the Clinical Health Section of the Ohio Public Health Association and currently serves as the vice chair.
She is a member of task forces including the Ohio Collaborative to Prevent Infant Mortality. At ONU, she serves as faculty advisor to the Pharmacy and Wellness Review (a student-run journal) and served in that capacity for Kappa Epsilon professional pharmacy fraternity (Psi chapter) from 2007-15. Outside of her professional career, DiPietro Mager serves as a volunteer for the Friends of the Ada Public Library and was the scholarship chair for the Ada Kiwanis from 2008-10.
