Three women's track and field records fall at All-Ohio meet

The Ohio Northern women's track & field team broke three ONU school records Saturday as they finished fifth at the All-Ohio meet at the George Gauthier Track located on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan.

Junior Michaela Dramis, sophomore Dianna Johnson-Ward, and the 4x100 meter relay team of sophomore Allison Gast, senior Gabrielle Metzner, junior Kristine Wagner, and sophomore Meagan Ellinger all set new ONU school records.

The Polar Bears scored 58.33 points in the meet and improve to 35-7 overall on the season.

Mount Union won the meet with 147.50 points, Ohio Wesleyan finished second with 122 points, Baldwin Wallace finished third with 94.50 points, and Otterbein finished fourth with 69 points.

"We had an unbelievable meet," said head coach Jason Maus. "Huge improvement from last season, just an all around great meet for our team."

Dramis finished fourth in the hammer throw with a pitch of 48.02 meters, breaking the previous school record of 46.45 meters set in 2011.

Johnson-Ward earned second place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.10 meters, also setting a new school record.

The sophomore broke the previous record set by Cari Treisch in 1998.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Gast, Metzner, Wagner, and Ellinger finished fourth in 49.66 seconds, breaking the previous school record of 49.81, set last season.

Freshman Emily Richards also had an impressive day as she set a new meet record in the 800-meter run.

The freshman set a national qualifying time of 2:12.75 as she finished first in the event, breaking the previous record of 2:13.67, set in 2005.

Senior Catie Huber finished second in the 1500-meter run in 4:40.32.

Huber also earned a seventh place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:21.72.

Sophomore Rebecca Carman placed third in the long jump with a leap of 5.43 meters.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Metzner, Ellinger, Richards, and sophomore Michelle Mosler finished third in 4:02.05.

Metzner and Gast placed fifth and eighth respectively in the 100-meter hurdles.

Metzner posted a time of 15.11 seconds, while Gast finished in 15.61 seconds.

Freshman Kendra Paul placed sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 33.34 meters.

The team will return to competition on April 18 as they host the Polar Bear Invitational at Kerscher Stadium.
