For 27 years, the Harvest and Herb Festival has brought people from all over Ohio and even outside of the state to pack Main Street in Ada. With over 130 booths lining the street, a parade, and plenty of entertainment this year, there is something for everyone at this year's festival, which is Saturday, Sept. 15.
The festival is put on by the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and headed by Jeff and Deb Oestreich, Anna Poling, Scott and Arlene Allison, and JoNell Hanratty.
In May 2011 Amanda Fincher received her Ada High School diploma. Her hopes were set a medical career in dentistry.
Sixteen months after high school, as she puts it, “my life turned upside down,” as she learned late last week that she was accepted into medical school in Turkey.
This weekend she is on her way to Turkey, where she will enroll as one of 25 students accepted into the English medicine program at Yildirim Beyazit University in Ankara.
Ada High School Volley for the Cure T-shirts are now on sale for the Ada vs Allen East volleyball game on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Allen East. Persons wanting to buy a shirt may contact any AHS volleyball player to stop in the high school office.
T-shirts are $5 eachand all proceeds go toward Breast Cancer Research.
PRESALE TICKETS: There are presale tickets available in the high school office for Friday’s home varsity football game with Columbus Grove. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $5 and student tickets are $4. All tickets at the game will be $6.00.
Ohio Northern junior Amanda Everlove has completed her competition for Team USA at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
Everlove finished 17th in the 100 freestyle (S8 Classification) in 1:19.38 on Thursday.
She made it to the finals in two of her events, placing eighth in the 100 fly in 1:18.56 on Aug. 30 and was eighth in the 200 I.M. in 3:00.49 on Sept. 5.
