High school swim meet scheduled at Wapakoneta has been canceled.

Ada Junior High girls basketball game at Delphos Jefferson has been canceled.

The OMEA Band Solo and Ensemble event scheduled at St. Mary's High School today has been canceled.

The Ada High School wrestling team will not be traveling to Crestview.

Level 1 Snow Emergency announced for Hardin County at 7:34 p.m., January 10.

Level 1 Snow Emergency announced for Hancock County at 5:45 p.m., January 10.

Weekend Doctor: Rediscovering the Power of Movement

Move it or lose it! Anyone who has rehabbed an injury or surgery is undoubtedly familiar with this paradigm in order to regain strength and mobility. I wonder if this thinking applies to other areas of our well-being. While grabbing a coffee one day, I pulled in and saw long lines at the drive-thru. Having little patience, I parked, ran in and got my coffee. As I left, I noticed the line of cars hadn’t moved. It begs the question, why would 95% of people opt to sit in their car in line for an exponential amount of time rather than just go in and get what they want? Are we so used to convenience we completely forget there is an alternative? And, because we aren’t moving as much, are we compromising our physical and mental health? Is convenience crippling us?

Carl D. Wagner was a farmer

Carl D. Wagner, 90, passed away January 9, 2025 at Serenity Springs Senior Living in Arlington.  Carl was born April 27, 1934 in Orange Township to the late Louis and Helen (Nusbaum) Wagner.  On May 18, 1952 he married Mary Gudakunst Wagner who preceded him in death on December 18, 2023 after seventy-one years of marriage.

Bulldog girls basketball defeated by Eagles

ADA - The visiting Liberty-Benton High School girls basketball team knocked down 13 three-point goals to overcome feisty Ada 68-44 in a Blanchard Valley Conference doubleheader nightcap game Thursday, January 9.

The home defeat dropped the Bulldog record to 2-11 overall and 0-6 in the BVC. League leader Liberty-Benton improved to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in BVC play after the win.

“I feel like it was the hardest we have played from start to finish all season,” said Bulldog third-year head coach Zach Ricker. “Everyone played well, we competed. We focused on playing hard and having fun.”

Eagle sophomore Megan Gerken drained eight trifectas to tally a game-high 24 points. L-B senior guard Avery Knepper drilled five triples to net 21 markers.

Ada trailed 21-12 after a high-scoring first period. Knepper nailed three straight treys early to build a 13-5 lead.
