McCOMB – The visiting Ada High School softball team decisively defeated Blanchard Valley Conference foe McComb 13-2 Wednesday evening, April 9.

The Bulldogs raced to a 10-0 lead after the top of the third inning and cruised to their third straight victory.

“It was nice to get another win,” said fourth-year Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. “We played clean softball. We did all the small things.”  

Ada improved to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the BVC after the one-sided conference road win. 

McComb dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in BVC play with the lopsided loss.

From 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, Jacomet’s Martial Arts, 121 S Main St, Bluffton, will host a self-defense class for ages 13 to adult. A similar class was held on December 7, 2024.

Owner/instructor Tony Jacomet explains, “This class will teach and practice several simple but highly effective techniques to address a variety of threatening scenarios. Prevention strategies, assertive de-escalation and what to do after a self-defense event will also be discussed.”

Doors will open at 10:15 a.m. All ability levels are welcome. The cost of the class is $5 per person.

In preparation for the Ada Municipal Pool, 426 S Park Dr., opening for the 2025 season on Saturday, May 24, the Village of Ada will sell discounted pool passes beginning April 16, 2025 and ending on April 30, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. 

NEW: Previously the pool opened at 1:00 p.m., during the 2025 season the pool will open at 12:00 p.m.
