Ohio Northern extended its winning streak to five games and wrapped up its season with a 34-13 victory at Otterbein in the 2014 season finale Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Polar Bears end their season with a 7-3 record and finish fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6-3 mark, while the Cardinals end their season at 5-5, 5-4.
Ohio Northern also clinched its 16th upper division OAC finish in the last 17 years and is 18-2 in its last 20 regular season finales.
Junior Justin Magazine led the Polar Bears with 122 yards rushing and a touchdown on 23 carries.
Senior Patrick Angle completed 15-of-27 passes for 192 yards and two scores.
Senior linebacker Dillon Kwiat led the ONU defense with seven tackles and caught an 18-yard pass on a fake field goal to set up ONU's first score.
The Polar Bears got on the board first when Magazine swept in from 5 yards out with 24 seconds left in the first quarter to go up 7-0.
Otterbein pulled within 7-3 on a 30-yard field goal by Quenton Miller with 14:53 left in the half.
DiMario gave ONU a 13-3 halftime lead when he made field goals of 32 and 36-yard field goals, the latter of which came with 16 seconds left before intermission.
The 36-yard field goal broke the Ohio Northern single-season record with his 10th made field goal of the season.
The Polar Bear defense was dominant in the first half, holding OU to just 41 yards of total offense in the first two periods.
Offensively ONU was efficient, marching into OU territory on all four of its possessions and rolling up 208 yards of offense.
OU took the second half kickoff and pulled within 13-6 on a 37-yard field goal with 11:11 left in the period.
Northern then marched 59 yards in just four plays and went up 20-6 on a 24-yard pass from Angle to senior Shaile Chamberlain with 9:10 left in the third quarter.
OU pulled within 20-13 on the first play of the fourth quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Brick Davis to Cole Benner.
But ONU extended its lead to 27-13 with a 62-yard pass from Angle to sophomore Reed Allen with 13:35 left in the game.
Sophomore Raymond Brown iced the game with a 13-yard touchdown run with 3:26 left in the game.
Northern out-gained OU 387-217 in total offense.
