Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H Club report

By Faith Holbrook, reporter

The last meeting of the Hardin Co. Hootenannies was held at advisor Grant Mizek’s farm. President Megan Williams opened the meeting and asked Riley Fleece to lead the American Pledge and Callie Cromer to lead the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was taken by secretary Miranda Holbrook and she asked us to respond with our favorite farm animal. Eleven members were present.

T-shirt money was due today; however, Grant Mizek informed the members that he had a donor who wanted to pay for the member’s t-shirts. We were all thrilled by this kindness. We will have a thank you card ready for everyone to sign at our next meeting.

Members were reminded that Still Project judging is on July 14. Late judging can be done on Aug 1. Appointments are to be made and can be done on-line now. Livestock judging will be Aug 5 and appointments will be needed for this too.

Advisor Ray Davis shared some changes in our fair books. He had books for everyone and fair stickers as well.

A good report on safety with lawn mowers was given by Dillon Beiler. Then Callie Cromer shared with us about the health of using herbs. She brought herbs from her own garden to show us.

After our meeting, we had a fishing contest in Mizek’s pond.

Our next meeting will be Sunday, July 13 at 4 p.m. at Ag Credit in Kenton. Landyn Hijma and Miranda Holbrook will be doing health and safety talks.
