Bulldog football takes tough loss at Riverdale

Ada visits Buckeye Central for the first time on September 1

The Ada High School football team battled but lost a tough 40-27 bout at Blanchard Valley Conference foe Riverdale Friday night in their first road game of the season at Mount Blanchard.

Ada, which is slated to join the BVC next fall, dropped to 1-1 with the non-league defeat. The Falcons improved to 2-0 after the win.

Apollo Career Center school board meets August 28

The Apollo Career Center board of education will meet at 7:00 p.m.on Monday, August 28 with the attached agenda.

Items on the agenda include:

A public hearing on the rehire of Keith Horner, retiring superintendent

Hiring Robin VanBuskirk as part-time curriculum/teacher support

2023 Farm Science Review is Sept 19-21 in London, OH

The 2023 Farm Science Review is right around the corner. This year’s show will take place September 19-21 at the Molly Caren Ag Center located at 135 State Route 38 NE, London, OH 45140. 

Pre-sale tickets are on sale now at Ohio State University Extension offices and online at go.osu.edu/fsrallen2023. Tickets are $10 until Monday, September 18 and $15 at the gate. Children 5 and under are admitted free. 

Summary of August 17 Ada Board of Education meeting

The Ada Schools Board of Education met on Thursday, August 17 with members Ron Fleming, Matt Gossman, Ted Griffith and Amy Mullins in attendance. Steve Ramey was absent. The meeting packet is attached HERE.

Joseph F. Campoli was ONU men's basketball and women's soccer coach

Joseph F. Campoli, age 80, of Ada, passed away at his residence on Friday, August 25, 2023.

He was born on January 30, 1943, in Nyack, New York to the late Girolamo and Angelina (Gatti) Campoli. On August 26, 1967, Joe married Margaret Cordeaux, she preceded him in death on January 25, 2010.

Joe is survived by his children: Joseph N. Campoli of Bradenton, FL, and Andrea Campoli of Ada; three grandchildren: Corbin (Taylor Kemmere) Crouse, Kyle Crouse and Jaden Crouse; a great granddaughter, Eva; and a sister, Marie Stone of Barnegat Light, NJ. 

He was preceded in death by his two brothers: Nick Campoli and Anthony Campoli. 

Janet L. Nagy was an artist and pastor

Janet Louise Nagy, age 79, of Piqua, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 12:18 a.m. at her residence, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on April 28, 1944, in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Sidney and Cleora (Amstutz) Burkholder. Janet was previously married to Bobby R. Van Hoose and he preceded her in death. On October 27, 1997 Janet married Dennis J. Nagy, Sr. and he survives in Piqua.
