15 minutes with Colton Hall, Ada High School senior
(Note: This interview took place during a study hall in the media center conference room. Also in attendance were Torch, Redman, Waldo and Bird.)
What classes are you taking this year?
Psychology, English 12, Communications, Integrative 4 (math), I have two study halls and work release. In that program I work at Community Market.
When did you received you most recent detention?
Not since I was a sophomore. I received some for being tardy, and having my feet up on the desk. I’d spend from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. after school in Mrs. Bowden or Mr. Dyer’s room. I am not, however, the Detention King of Ada High School. That title belongs to someone else.
How many text message do you send in an average day?
Probably 100. I use Snapchat. I usually receive about 110 – just kidding, maybe 60.
What music is on your phone?
Hard Rock. There are 200 songs, mostly Puddle of Mud, Bush and Nirvana.
What music will never be on your phone?
‘60s old school country and western. You know, Conway Twitty or George Jones.
Tell me about your most memorable tee peeing.
It was in seventh or eighth grade. We threw a bike into a tree. It was in one of our friend’s backyard. Along with me were Spencer, Matt, Redman, Levi, Jacob and Micah, I think.
Are you thinking about prom yet? You know, what you’ll wear?
I’ll probably dress like this (pointing to his clothes). No, I’ll get a white tux.
What wheels will you use?
Might use my grandpa’s 1951 Ford hot rod. It only has 6,000 miles on it.
Describe your life after high school?
Well, I want to be a football scout. I might goes to Rhodes. If that doesn’t work out I might be a police officer in Ada or a state patrol officer.
Waldo interjected:
He’ll work for the Cleveland Browns.
When’s your birthday?
Jan. 2. I was the New Year’s baby in the Bluffton Community Hospital in 1995.
Any tattoos in your future?
Maybe a Cleveland Browns tattoo.
How many Ada students have tattoos?
(The entire group contributed to this question) Seniors, probably six. Juniors, no one. Teachers, four.
You were named this year’s homecoming king. Tell me about it.
That was pretty much the highlight of my life.
(Group contribution again)
Colton’s a nice guy, He's funny. It’s his gift.
Care to share your GPA?
Whoa!
(Group contribution again) He listens to a lot of people who need to vent. He knows secrets about everyone, but he won’t tell a soul.
Do you have a favorite movie?
Tommy Boy.
And the worst…
Machete Kills (everyone laughs). It was really stupid.
(Group contribution again).
Colton lives for the NFL draft on April 27.
Care to go out on a limb and predict the number one draft pick?
Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville quarterback.
We’ll, it’s been great talking with you and I hope all your dreams come true.
