Rev. Walter W. Powers, Jr., 1943-2013
Rev. Walter W. Powers, Jr. age 70, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 4:45 p.m. at his residence in Sidney.
He was born July 20, 1943 in McGuffey, Ohio to Walter W. and Donna Mae (Barnett) Powers, Sr., they preceded him in death. He married Judith Ann Jump on October 14, 1962 in Kenton and she survives in Sidney.
Rev. Powers previously worked in law enforcement and was a pastor. He received his B.A. in Bible Theology and a Teacher Diploma from Southeastern Bible College in Florida. He received his B.S. in Psychology from Urbana University, Urbana. He also graduated from Dayton Theological Seminary.
Also surviving are three daughters: Deborah Lynn (Rev. Clarence Patrick) Duffy of Portsmouth, VA, Lucinda Ann (Martin E.) Basso Miami, FL and Charity Christiane (Brad) Clum of Ada; five grandchildren: Jessica (Michael) Hodges, Stephen (Fiancé' Kaitlyn) Ray, Alexis Clum, Haley Clum and Bradley Clum; four great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Nathan, Ava and Mia; a brother, David (Kathy) Powers of Lewisburg, PA
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Powers and a sister, Belva Jean Shaeffer.
A celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Rev. Clarence Patrick Duffy officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
