The Ohio Northern University Music Department presents the Climax Jazz Band in Presser Hall on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Based in Canada, the Climax Jazz Band is a six-piece traditional jazz band known for its wide variety of tunes, with lots of vocals. Their particular brand of traditional jazz includes marches, blues, ragtime, spirituals and popular dance tunes.
The band has 26 CDs, including two award-winners from the Canadian Collectors’ Congress.
They have performed for the Canadian Opera Company, The National Ballet, Toronto Symphony and BBC Radio. Climax has appeared at numerous festivals all over North America, Europe and Japan.
They have played every winter on JazzSea cruises for about 600 jazz fans and have cruised to Hawaii, Mexico, the Amazon, Panama Canal and many exotic Caribbean destinations.
