Bowling Season Begins

American Red Cross Blood Drive
·         August 2, 8AM – 2PM at Hardin Northern High School, 11589 State Route 81, Dola
·         August 6, 2PM – 7PM at Forest VFW Post 1182, 204 E. Lima St., Forest
·         August 9, 12NOON – 6PM at Hardin Memorial Hospital, 921 E. Franklin St., Kenton
While walk-in donors are welcome, donors are encouraged to make appointments by calling 1.800.RED.CROSS or online at www.redcrossblood.org

Youth & Adult Art Classes
Wolf Creek Art Center is seeking 40 young people ages 9-17 years old, and 40 adults who would like to attend free classes that will include free art supplies to take home with their projects. Young people will learn basic painting skills while creating 11”x14” acrylic landscapes on August 10 from 9AM-11AM.
Adults are invited to learn basic drawing techniques and the value of using sketchbooks for practice and observation. August 15 from 7PM to 9PM. All classes will be taught at the art center, 16163 Ohio 31, four miles south of Kenton. These sessions, taught by volunteer professional artists, are possible with a grant from the Hardin County Community Foundation. FREE Swim at Kenton Pool
August 5 from 5PM to 7PM, City of Kenton Parks and Recreation Department will host a FREE Swim night at the Kenton Pool. Open to everyone. For more information call 419.674.4850.

Ada Farmers' and Merchants' Picnic 100th Anniversary
Ada Farmers' and Merchants' Picnic will be held on August 9-10 at War Memorial Park, Ada. Friday evening kicks off with a truck and tractor pull, and a concert with Exploit. Saturday is OWHA Horse Show, parade, greased pig contest, live entertainment, kiddie tractor pull, chain saw carving, 2PM a concert with the First Dew Band and at 8pm a concert with Controversy. Summer Festival at Immaculate Conception Church
The Summer Festival at Immaculate Conception Church, is on August 10-11, Saturday, 5:30PM – 9:30PM, Sunday 11:30AM -9:30PM in the church parking lot 220 E. North St., Kenton. Admission is free, musical entertainment, carnival food, beer n brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ Chicken Dinners, games for the whole family. Succession Planning
This program is geared for business owners and chief executives, especially of family-owned businesses.  The West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium, Rhodes State College and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of NW Ohio are sponsoring a FREE session on “Succession Planning,” on Thursday, August 15, 8:00AM to 10:00AM, at 120 Keese Hall, Rhodes State College, Lima.

Hardin Hustle 5K Walk/Run
The Hardin Hustle 5K Walk/Run and Kid's Fun Run will take place on August 17 with race to begin at 9AM and Kid's Fun Run, ages 12 and under, to begin at 8:15AM. Registration will be from 7:30AM-8:45AM the day of the race. The course is a paved rural road, out and back. Mile splits. Water available along route. Kids Fun Run entry fee $5. Kids can participate in a 1/2 mile or 1 mile race. Entry fee includes a moisture wicking t-shirt. Entry fee for Adults varies depending on the type of shirt selected. Monies raised at this event will be donated to the Hardin County Upward Basketball Program.

Area Farmers’ Markets
·         Kenton Farmers’ Market will continue on Saturdays from 9AM-12NOON through September. The Market will be in the same location as previous years on W. Columbus Street between Detroit Street and Market Street. There will be a minimal booth fee to cover the cost of advertising. Please contact Lynn Hoover at 419-674-4580 for more information.
·         Forest Farmers’ Market is held on Saturdays; new hours are 10AM to 1PM in the Forest-Jackson Library Parking Lot. Also new this year, currently one vendor is accepting Senior Nutrition Program and WIC. In addition, one vendor will be accepting debit cards!
·         Ada Farmers’ Market will be held every Thursday in the Community Health Professional’s Parking lot from 4PM-7PM. Contact Deb Curlis at 419-634-7443 for more information.
·         Hardin Memorial Hospital will continue their Farmers’ Market season on Thursdays from 11:30AM to 3:30PM in the northwest parking lot. There is no charge to be a part of the market. Any vendor that is interested in participating and falls under the guidelines should contact Chris Davis at 419.675.8137.
