The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance and the Buy Local First Committee announced the first cash mob will take place at Belly Acre, 450 S. Main St., Mt. Victory from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6.
The Belly Acre will be offering a special, buy one milk shake any size and get the second shake the same size for $1.00. Drawing more attention to the mob, the Buy Local First Hardin County Committee will be handing out information on the benefits of buying local.
What is a cash mob? It is a trend where people use social media to plan organized events. A cash mob is like a flash mob, but instead of singing or dancing, cash mobbers join together to support their local economy by visiting and making purchases at a selected local business.
How can residents participate and spread the word? Participation is easy, tell your friends, show up, make a purchase big or small and celebrate your local community. Join in the fun and give a local business a boost. The Buy Local First Hardin County Committee encourages residents to use social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to spread the word about the August 6 event.
The Belly Acre has been in business for over forty years in Mt. Victory. The current owner is Tom Williams. They serve ice cream, grilled and fried foods plus pizza and subs. They are open year round seven days a week.
