Andrew Ross, an Ada High School graduate, is among area students graduating from Ohio State Lima this spring. His name was omitted from an earlier list of local graduates. He holds an Associates of Arts degree.

Josh Klein, math teacher, is featured speaker

Ada High School seniors, their families and the Ada community are invited to participate in the 2020 Ada High School Baccalaureate service held virtually Wednesday, May 20, at 7 p.m.  

This year’s Baccalaureate address, “What’s a Motto with Mr. Klein? Life Lessons for the Class of 2020” will be given by Josh Klein, Ada High School math teacher.  

The service will include the traditional faculty, community and pastoral blessings as well as the graduate slide show.

After registering, a confirmation email with directions to view the service from your computer, tablet, or phone will be sent. 

Friday morning her Main Street salon will reopen for business; she's taking appointments

Laurie Watt opened Platiunum Hair Design earlier this spring for two weeks, and was forced to close to due to state mandated business closings. 

On Friday morning, May 15, the shop will reopen as a result of personal service businesses being allowed to reopen in Ohio.

"It's a great relief to me and we are excited to reopen," she told the Icon.

As Ada’s newest Main Street business owner, as she has assumed the ownership of a hair salon on North Main Street.

Renamed Platinum Hair Design, LLC, the full-service salon is located at 228 N. Main St.

In cooperation with Ada schools, the Ada Icon will post each of the Ada High School class of 2020 seniors in the spotlight. Ty Miller is today's senior in the spotlight.

Ohio's personal care services such as hair salons, barbershops, day spas, nail salons, and tanning facilities may reopen on Friday, May 15, according to Gov. Mike DeWine.

To ensure that these establishments operate in the safest manner possible, Governor DeWine's Personal Services Advisory Group created a detailed list of guidelines and best practices for personal care service providers to follow. The full list of mandatory and recommended best practices can be found at www.coronavirus.ohio.gov.

The University of Dayton Arena will host the Ohio High School Athletic Association girls basketball state tournament for the next three years, OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass announced Tuesday. Having hosted 125 NCAA basketball tournament games, UD Arena has been the home court for March Madness more than any other facility in the country. 

Renovated in 2019, UD Arena has a seating capacity of 13,000 and has played host to many OHSAA basketball tournament games, along with Atlantic 10 Conference and NCAA tournament games. During the regular season, it is the home of the very successful University of Dayton Flyers women’s and men’s basketball teams.
