Hootenannies 4-H organizes for 2013

The Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H club’s last meeting was held at the Ag Credit meeting room. Ron Rofe, advisor, opened our meeting. Twelve members were present. Sean Hurley led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Levi Beiler led the 4-H pledge. We turned in our project forms. Then, we had our election of officers. 

UA state apprenticeship contest held in Lima

The United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Service Technicians will hold its state apprenticeship contest in Lima on April 23, 24, and 25 at the office of UA Local 776 at 1300 Bowman Road behind the Allen County Fairgrounds.

The top apprentices from 15 different locals across Ohio will be competing for top   honors in plumbing, pipefitting, welding, sprinkler fitting and HVAC service. Representing Local 776 in this year’s competition are Matt Chiles-pipefitter, Nathan Chamberlain-welder and Dallas Hoffman-HVAC.

ONU conduct drug take back day April 27

 

Ohio Northern University’s chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) will conduct “Medication Disposal Day,” a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Drug Take Back Day, in the ONU parking lot on the corner of South Main and E. College Avenue on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Krysti's Music Studio now offers art lessons.

Krysti's Music Studio, 334 S. Main St., Bluffton, now offers art lessons, according to Krysti Schey, studio owner. 

The studio also offers piano, guitar, voice and string lessons. For more details contact Schey at 419-233-5255.

ONU College of Law in top 10 for placing students in government, public interest positions

 

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law is among the top 10 law schools for job placement in government and public interest positions, according to a report in The National Law Journal.

Ohio Northern was ranked ninth in the nation for schools that sent members of the class of 2012 into either government jobs (such as prosecutors) or public interest jobs (such as public defenders, nonprofit defenders or nonprofit attorneys). ONU had a 22.8 percent placement rate in these categories.

Cory Martin records 100th career hit for ONU

Senior Cory Martin recorded his 100th career hit and the Ohio Northern baseball team turned a triple play in a double header split at Heidelberg on Sunday at Peaceful Valley Field.

The Polar Bears are now 12-13 on the season and 3-5 in OAC play, while the Student Princes fall to 13-15, 3-5.

In Game 2, Martin ripped a double down the left field line to tie the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning for his milestone hit.

He is the 56th player in ONU baseball history to reach 100 career hits.

Northern also turned a triple play in the third inning.
