Weekend Doctor: Toddler snack tactics

For toddlers, snacking is a very important part of the day. Unlike adults, they need to eat more frequently to maintain their energy levels. Healthy snacks help control toddler hunger while providing a nutritious boost, but how can parents ensure their little ones will still be hungry for dinner after a day of snacking? Here are some tips to help structure your toddler’s diet and not spoil their dinners.

Halfway there: Day 1 of district track and field meet

Bulldog junior Courtney Sumner set a personal-best of 16-4 to finish second in the long jump at day one of the OSHAA Division 3 district meet May 19 at Ada War Memorial Stadium. Day 2 was Saturday, May 21. See complete results HERE.

AHS Class of 2022 awards and scholarships

It's a heady time for Ada High School seniors. They will wrap up their school days on Monday, May 23. Commencement for the Class of 2022 will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29 in the high school gymnasium. And at the Senior Honor Awards ceremony on Monday, May 16, the highest performing students were celebrated with a dinner and the announcement of awards and scholarships.

Lauren Mullins, Kirsten Poling, Lucille Wall, Isaac Williams, Dexter Woods III and Molly Zimmerman earned the honor of Valedictorians, while Selena Gonzalez-Jordan was named Salutatorian.

May 25 Community "Brinner" at St. Mark

St. Mark Lutheran Church will be serving its monthly free Community Meal from 5:00- 6:30 p.m. on May 25 at the church at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson. 

This month they will be doing something a little different, a Breakfast for Supper meal. The meal will consist of breakfast ham casserole, sausage links, muffin, and fruit. Guests may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curb service. 

The meal is free and opened to the public. Last month the church served over 100 meals. Stop by before they run out.

Bassitt is 1st team All-NWC softball; honors to Sizemore, Robinson, Sndyer, Southerly

SOFTBALL

Ada freshman standout Jenna Bassitt was voted first team All-Northwest Conference in softball at the league meeting by the coaches in Delphos Monday evening, May 16.

Leadoff hitter Bassitt led Ada in batting average (.519). She also topped the team in on-base percentage (.576), runs scored (19), stolen bases (15) and hits (27). She added five doubles, two triples and one home run. 

Bassitt won all five games pitching that Ada (5-14, 2-6 NWC) captured. She also led the team in strikeouts, innings pitched and complete games.

Chance to cheer on Ada Soccer at Bluffton tournament, May 20-21-22

The Ada Soccer Association issued a reminder that there are U12 and U15 tournament games at Bluffton University on May 20 and 21:
