Klingler paces Bulldog golfers in NWC quad

League-leading Leipsic High School won a four-team Northwest Conference match at Pike Run Golf Club in Ottawa Wednesday evening, August 31.

The Vikings won with a total of 172 strokes. Delphos Jefferson was second with 187, followed by Allen East (191) and Ada (234).

Ada senior Geddes Klingler shot a personal-best round of 42 to pace the Bulldogs.

Junior Jack Baumgartner posted a 53. Senior Dale Hoyt carded a 69, while freshman Jayden Shaffer rounded out the Ada scorers with a 74.
Freshman Sam Crawford added an 80.

Ada boy kickers tie with Miller City

The Ada High School boys soccer team tied visiting Miller City 1-1 in a non-league match under the lights Wednesday evening, August 31, at War Memorial Park Stadium.

The Bulldogs ran their record to 4-0-2 overall with the tie. MC is now 2-1-2. "It was a hard-fought, physical game on both sides," said Ada head Jason Okuly. 

MC netted the first goal, but Bulldog Carson Gossard scored the equalizer on an assist from senior Carter Conley. Both teams scored early and neither could tally again over the last 60 minutes of the defense-oriented contest.

PPK USA advances young athletes to national competition

On August 27, a Punt, Pass and Kick USA, Inc.-sanctioned competition at ONU’s Dial-Roberson Stadium brought out the best in young athletes and from the Ada community. The competition was part of the 2022 Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival. Some 130 children ages 6-15 were registered for the free event which will advance top scorers to a national competition.

Akin means similar in character or related by blood. Are there similarities among the various viruses circulating right now? We know a lot about COVID-19, the common cold, and the flu, but how much do you know about Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)? 

RSV is considered an enveloped virus from the genus Pneumovirus and the family Paramyxoviridae.  RSV is an RNA virus and akin to other viruses, RSV is primarily spread by respiratory droplets from the lungs to the lungs. RSV is highly contagious. Rarely it can be spread by contact with contaminated surfaces where the virus can live for hours.  

August 31 is Opioid Awareness Day

The State of Ohio marks August 31 as Ohio Overdose Awareness Day, "an opportunity to remember loved ones lost to an overdose, recognize those who have a substance use disorder and are working toward recovery." It's also a good time to become more familiar with the resources available for those in crisis.

RecoveryOhio, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the Ohio Department of Health have partnered to launch www.naloxone.ohio.gov, a new website that streamlines the process of requesting the lifesaving drug, naloxone, that can reverse an opioid overdose.
