Rebecca A. Frederick obituary

Rebecca A. Frederick, age 74, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at The Laurels of West Columbus.

She was born on January 25, 1948, in Ohio to the late Robert and Mary (Spar) Frederick. 

Rebecca is survived by her two brothers: Randy Frederick of Dayton and Douglas (Susan) Frederick of Forest.

Rebecca was a member of the Dola Presbyterian Church.  She was a graduate of Hardin Northern High School and Bliss College, Columbus.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Ada with Pastor Gregg King officiating.  Burial will be in Dola Cemetery, Dola. 

AHS boys basketball loses heartbreaker at CG

COLUMBUS GROVE--The previously-undefeated Ada boys basketball team lost a 53-52 barnburner that went down to the very final second before being decided at Columbus Grove in a seesaw Northwest Conference opener Friday night.

"It was a tough game throughout, both sides played hard," said second-year Ada head coach Vince Halliday. "It was back and forth at the end, and they just made one more play than we did in those last few possessions."  

Grove sophomore Trenton Barraza scored five baskets in the fourth period to lead the hosts to the tight win. 

Pauline Shadley taught at Perry School District

Pauline Shadley, age 97, of Ada, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on March 8, 1925, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late James Delmar and Lucille Elizabeth (Neubert) Shadley. 

Photography competition reception and crows talk with Daniel Hodges 

Artspace/Lima and Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District collaboration

On Tuesday, December 20, ArtSpace/Lima will highlight its partnership with the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District (JAMPD) with two events.  

Beginning at 5:00 p.m., there will be a reception for the winning photographers from the JAMPD  photography contest. The work is currently on display and will remain up until December 31.

Ada girls lose Bulldog battle to Grove

The Ada High School girls basketball team got behind early and lost 55-15 to visiting Columbus Grove in their annual Northwest Conference "Battle of the Bulldogs" Thursday night, December 8.

The Ada girls dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with a loss that ended their two-game win streak. The Grove girls evened their mark at 3-3 and 1-1 in the NWC with the one-sided victory.

The purple and gold were short-handed due to illness and injury.
