AHS girls basketball defeated by Jeff-Cats

The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team lost 69-23 to league unbeaten Delphos Jefferson in a Northwest Conference outing Thursday night, January 12

DJ improved to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in the NWC with the decisive win. Ada fell to 6-8 overall and 0-5 in league play with the defeat.

Reminder: Neighborhood Revitalization meeting January 14

Hardin County and the Village of Ada are planning to apply for a grant to make improvements in the community. The Village is holding a meeting to discuss residents' priorities for street and sidewalk work, and to discuss local resources for community projects. 

The meeting will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 14, 2023, in the Ada Railroad Depot, 110 Central Avenue, Ada, Ohio. For more information, please call the Village Hall at 419-634- 4045.

Since the last meeting, organizers have received information on what areas of the village are eligible to be included in the grant application.

Four of six census tracts in the village are income elibible.

The War Memorial Park is not within village limits and is therefore not eligible.

Ada Schools Board of Education 2023 reorganization meeting summary

The Ada Schools held the 162nd annual reorganizational meeting of the Board of Education on Thursday, January 12 with all members present (agenda attached). Members of the board are Ron Fleming, Matt Gossman, Ted Griffith, Amy Mullins and Steve Ramey.

ELECTIONS
The board entered a 5-minute executive session to make an appointment. Upon their return, the board elected Matt Gossman as president and Amy Mullins as vice-president. The group also established the date, time and place of regular meetings for 6:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month beginning in February. This schedule may be adjusted as needed.

TREASURER’S REPORT
The Treasurer’s report recommended authorizations and designations A-F (pages 2-3 of attachment). Ted Griffin made a motion to approve items B-F. In discussion he said he would like all investments to be insured. His motion was not seconded. Ron Fleming made a motion to approve all items, which was passed 4-1, with Griffin voting no.

Tickets on sale for Ada Academic and Music Boosters purse raffle

The 11th Annual Purse Raffle, hosted by the Ada Academic and Music Booster groups is scheduled for February 19. 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern.

A 3 Purse Virtual Raffle is also planned.

Full tables are sold out. Currently, half tables and individual seats are on sale. Organizers note: "If you miss the last FULL TABLE, don't worry! If you purchase two HALF TABLE'S we will make sure you sit together! Folk's who purchase individual seats do not have a problem finding seats together with friends either.

"And finally: we will continue to sell any open seats up until the start of the first game of BINGO!"

Alger Public Library to host teen movie night, January 17

The Alger Public Library has announced a free Teen Movie night at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Darby and the Dead will be shown. This movie is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for strong language, suggestive material and some teen partying.

Fresh Popcorn and drinks will be provided. The library suggests bringing blankets pillows to help you enjoy the show.
