AHS girls basketball defeated by Jeff-Cats

The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team lost 69-23 to league unbeaten Delphos Jefferson in a Northwest Conference outing Thursday night, January 12
DJ improved to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in the NWC with the decisive win. Ada fell to 6-8 overall and 0-5 in league play with the defeat.
Leipsic is alone atop the NWC standings at 5-0, a half-game ahead of Delphos, after the Vikings nipped Bluffton 51-49 Thursday night.
Ada trailed just 13-8 after the first quarter as Courtney Sumner splashed two treys for the Bulldogs. But DJ poured in 48 points over the two middle periods, and held the Bulldogs to just 15 points over the final 24 minutes to win going away.
Delphos bombed in eight of its 10 three-point goals over those decisive middle quarters to help beat the Bulldogs.
Wildcat Lyv Lindeman led three Delphos players in double figures with 13 points. Lauren French scored all 12 of her points in the first half, and Hannah Wiltsie added 10 markers.
"We had to double down on the French girl, which opened things up for them from three," said Ada head coach Zach Ricker.
Nine Wildcats scored as DJ led 61-23 after three quarters. Ada did not score a point in the fourth period.
Bulldog senior guard Sumner led all scorers with 15 points.
DJ connected on 27 baskets, sinking 17 deuces and 10 treys. The Wildcats hit five of six foul shots (83 percent).
Ada connected on eight baskets, including six deuces and a pair of triples. The Bulldogs also converted five of six at the charity stripe (83 percent).

Ada looks to snap a two-game skid when it hosts Calvary Christian (5-1) Saturday. A two-quarter JV game is scheduled to start at noon.
