Ada Bible Quizzers headed to nationals

Bible Quizzing teams from Ada’s First Presbyterian Church will travel to Indiana’s Bethel College Thursday to compete in the national finals.

Bible Quizzing is a competition designed for youth aged 12-20.  Team members study several books of the Bible over the course of a school year, then compete in monthly competitions. This year, the teams are studying Hebrews and 1st and 2nd Peter.

Ada First Presbyterian boasts four teams – two experienced and two rookie.  Sixteen youth participate.  The Ada team has won numerous invitational events in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana and captured both experienced and rookie divisions in last year’s national finals.

Hancock County Sheriff's Office has increased patrols July 3-5

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is conducting increased patrol from July 3 through July 5 thanks to grant funding from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, according to Sergeant Matt Kinsinger of the patrol.

Deputies will pay particular attention for violations such as driving under the influence,  and failure to yield and speeding; all of which are leading actors in fatal crashes. There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence and seat belt violations.

The Amazing Spider-Man now showing at Ada Theatre

The Amazing Spider-Man (PG-13) is now showing at the Ada Theatre according to James Curliss.

Shows are:
• Friday and Saturday 7 and 9:45 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday matinee 4 p.m.
• Daily at 7 p.m.

The Amazing Spider-Man is a 2012 American superhero film directed by Marc Webb based on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man. It is the fourth Columbia Pictures film that portrays Spider-Man in film and is a reboot of the Sam Raimi film series with Andrew Garfield replacing Tobey Maguire as the title role of the superhero.

55 percent of AEP customers have power restored

By 9 a.m. today, (July 3) AEP Ohio had restored power to         
approximately 55 percent of the 660,000 customers affected by the         
catastrophic storms that moved through the state June 29 and the          
additional 20,000 outaged by the July 1 evening storm.                    

Meteorologists continue to show the threat of possible thunderstorms      
through the end of the week. Temperatures are forecasted to remain in the 
mid-90s throughout this period.                                           

Approximately 297,000 customers were without power at 9:00 a.m. today.    

ONU to induct six into Athletic Hall of Fame

Six members of the Ohio Northern University athletics family will be inducted into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 5, as part of ONU’s Homecoming weekend.

They will be inducted that Friday during a banquet in Ohio Northern’s McIntosh Center and introduced Saturday, Oct. 6, before the ONU football game at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
