The secret’s out. The Buy Ada First Committee, planning the community’s third cash mob, this week announced the location of the event.
The cash mob takes place at one of Ada’s prominent retail businesses, New Leaf Garden Center, 0395 Ohio 235 - Ada, from 2 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 23.
“Laurie Laird welcomed our invitation to host this event,” said Heather Cox, member of the committee. “We hope to continue more cash mobs in Ada this year.”
The Ada Icon caught up with Taylor Willeke, Ada High School senior, recently. Here’s a portion of that conversation.
What courses are you taking this semester? Taylor: Physics, Calculus, Sociology, Personal Finance, Spanish IV and Advanced Prep English 12.
When was the first time you held a basketball?
Taylor: Probably when I was 2 years old. My dad was the eighth grade basketball coach and he’d take me to practice with him.
The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, April 23. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.
The topic of the workshop will be “Women in Business” with Susan Schertzer, assistant professor of marketing in ONU’s Dicke College of Business Administration. During this workshop, Schertzer will share her successes, mistakes and lucky breaks as a woman in the business world. This event is free and open to the public.
Members of the Ada Kiwanis Club met on April 9 at the Kewpee, in Lima to thank Harry, Myrna and Scott Shutt for their assistance at the recently held 61st annual Pancake and Sausage Day.
Club President Myrna McCurdy formally thanked the Shutt’s for the generous donation. She noted the success of previous years and noted that sponsorships were begun in 2007.
Beginning in that year, the profits from the project have increased significantly. Kewpee owner Harry Shutt said he is glad to be able to help the club as they do their best to improve the Ada community.
