Margie Huber was an Ada High School graduate

Margie Jean Huber, 88, of Melbourne, Fl. passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013.

She was born October 24, 1924 in Ada Ohio and was a former resident of Bluffton, Ohio. Her parents were E.E. (Gene) & Alma Peterson and she graduated from Ada High School.

Margie married C. Berdell Huber on January 1, 1943 in Bluffton, Ohio and they both were instrumental in founding The Northwest Ohio Antique Machinery Association. She retired from R C A in Findlay, Ohio. 

Margie was preceded in death by her husband Berdell in 2000.

ONU to host seventh annual Polar Bear Invitation Mock Trial Tournament

Ohio Northern University’s mock trial program will host the seventh annual Polar Bear Invitational Mock Trial Tournament from Jan. 19-20. The competition will take place at ONU’s Pettit College of Law, Hill Building and Dukes Memorial. More than 300 students from 24 colleges and universities representing 12 states will participate in the tournament.

BVRCC hosting American Cancer Society look good feel better events

The Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC), 15990 Medical Drive South, Findlay, will be hosting six American Cancer Society Look Good Feel Better events throughout 2013. The events will be held February 4, April 1, June 3, August 5, October 7 and December 2. Each event will take place from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the BVRCC family conference room.

Look Good Feel Better is an American Cancer Society program that teaches beauty techniques to women who are actively undergoing cancer treatment. This program helps women combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. Each participant will receive a makeup kit worth $250.

Women's basketball moves up to No. 8 in seventh weekly D3Hoops.com poll

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team moved up one more spots to a season-high ranking of No. 8 in the seventh weekly D3hoops.com poll.

The Polar Bears received 439 votes in the poll, 27 more than the 412 they received in last week's poll.

DePauw (Ind.) stayed at the top of the poll with 623 points and 23 of the 25 first place votes, Calvin (Mich) is ranked second with 598 points and the two remaining first place votes and Hope (Mich.) is third with 525 points.

ONU College of Law introduces new clinical programs

The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law has announced two new programs within the college’s clinical offerings that will further assist individuals in Allen and Hardin counties.

In conjunction with former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton’s efforts to provide better protection for service members and veterans before the courts of Ohio, the ONU Legal Clinic has revised its service priorities to place service personnel and veterans at the top of its intake list.

All-American Kyle Kwiat named OAC wrestler of the week

Ohio Northern senior All-American Kyle Kwiat was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13.

Kwiat, the defending national champion and No. 1-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds, became ONU's all-time career wins leader with a 6-0 record at the Budd Whitehill Duals at Lycoming (Pa.) College over the weekend.

He had a pin, four tech falls and a major decision and is now 22-3 on the season.

Kwiat is now 135-16 in his four seasons at Ohio Northern, surpassing the previous record of 133 wins by previous national champions Vinny Cameron (1986-89) and Luke Miller (2008-11).
