Bretz appointed dean of Getty College of Arts & Sciences

Ohio Northern University Provost and V.P. of Academic Affairs, Julie Hurtig, Ph.D., announced that Stacey Lowery Bretz, Ph.D., has been named the next dean of Ohio Northern University’s Getty College of Arts & Sciences. She will begin as dean on June 19 and will succeed Chris Bowers, Ph.D., who has been serving as interim dean.

“We’re so pleased to welcome Dr. Bretz to our Ohio Northern University community,” says President Baumann. “As an accomplished educator and administrator who cares deeply about student success, we’re confident she will lead and guide the Getty College of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with faculty and staff, ever forward in strengthening the college’s current programs while moving forward in innovative ways to meet the needs of tomorrow’s students and employers.”

Bulldog baseball run-rules Ridgemont

Playing at home, the Ada High School varsity baseball squad run-ruled Ridgemont 10-0 in five innings Friday evening, April 14.  

Ada improved to 3-5 overall with the victory.  Ridgemont fell to 7-3 with the defeat.

“The kids played well,” said Ada head coach Toby Smith. “Roman (Snyder) pitched strikes and we got timely hits. If we can do that more often, we will see similar results.”

Bulldog softball buries Gophers

Playing at home in War Memorial Park, the Ada High School softball team defeated Hardin County rival Ridgemont 10-3 on Friday evening, April 14.

The Ada girls record improved to 11-1 after the non-league win. It was the fifth game in as many nights for the weary Bulldogs.

The Gopher girls dropped to 3-8 after the loss.

Linda Lou Rowe was born in Tip Top, Kentucky

Linda Lou Rowe, age 77, of Alger, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 1:18 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born on September 8, 1945, in Tip Top, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Gracie (Rowe) Conley. On August 10, 1968 Linda married Oscar Rowe, they were married for 54 years.  Oscar survives in Alger.

Bulldog baseball shut out by Pirates

BLUFFTON – The visiting Ada High School varsity baseball squad lost to 9-0 local rival Bluffton in a Northwest Conference battle Thursday evening, April 13.

Ada fell to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the NWC with the defeat. Bluffton improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the league after the win.  

Bulldog softball downs Pirates to stay atop NWC

BLUFFTON–The visiting Ada High School softball team defeated local rival Bluffton 6-2 in a Northwest Conference game Thursday evening, April 13.

The Ada girls record improved to a sparkling 10-1 overall after the win. The purple and gold stayed in first place in the NWC at 3-0 with the convincing victory, tied with perennial power Crestview. 

The Pirate girls fell to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the NWC with the loss.
