Bulldog boys soccer scores late to win sectional thriller

UPDATE The sectional game at Liberty-Benton will now be played at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21.

By Cort Reynolds

The Ada High School boys soccer team scored two second-half goals, including the tiebreaker in the final minutes, to rally past upset-minded Pemberville Eastwood and win their intense sectional semifinal match 2-1 Wednesday evening, October 18, at War Memorial Stadium.

Bulldog junior Nathan Williams calmly buried a penalty kick goal into the upper right part of the net with 2:51 remaining to provide the final margin of victory.

Ada had earned the PK try on an accidental Eastwood hand ball in the box off a Williams right corner kick.

The Bulldog record improved to 4-7-6 after the exciting comeback win. Ada has won two in a row after a 12-match winless streak.

Ninth seed Ada now visits top-seeded Liberty-Benton (10-4-3) Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. in the sectional finals (new time).

The Thanksgiving Play at Freed Center

This weekend, October 19-22, The Freed Center for the Performing Arts will feature The Thanksgiving Play, which the center describes this way: "When a troupe of really, really well-meaning theater artists attempt to put on a culturally sensitive Thanksgiving school pageant, things get messy. Hilarious and poignant, this satirical comedy reflects on the truth behind Thanksgiving."
