Ada school is celebrating National Autism Week. Each day staff and student wear special clothing and decorations. Wednesday was crazy sock day. Here's a sampling of socks The Icon photographed. April 11 to 14 at The Freed Center

The Ohio Northern University Department of Theatre Arts will present the musical comedy “Young Frankenstein” from Thursday through Sunday, April 11 through April 14 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 11,  April 12 and April 13, with 2 p.m. matinee performances on April 13 and April 14. The performance is being underwritten by Quest Federal Credit Union.

“Young Frankenstein” is based on the 1974 Mel Brooks comedy film, which is an affectionate parody of the classic 1930s horror film.

Naomi Basinger will celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday, April 13, from 2-4 p.m. with an open house at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  (No gifts please). Birthday wishes may be sent to her at: 304 Hilty Dr, Pandora OH 45877. 

Naomi was born April 16, 1919, in Lafayette, Ohio, to Harry E. and Chloe (Williams) Shrider  she married Orville Basinger on July 13, 1940. Orville passed away on Jan. 25, 1998.  Naomi had three siblings: Donna (Ray) Long, Diamond (Bob) Klingler and Harry J (Marie) Shrider.  All are deceased. Naomi had worked at Westinghouse, Lima, and retired from Triplett.

ADA - Ada had several students named to the Northwest Conference winter sports scholar-athlete list recently. The entire NWC list is attached at the bottom of this story.

Criteria for inclusion are that students must be a letter winner in their sport, and meet the following grade point average requirements:
Gold level 3.50 and above
Silver level 3.00 - 3.49

Basketball cheerleading: Gold - Anabel Alexander, Nora Dellifield, Emma Jameson, Kama Arn, Barrette Jones, Courtney McLaughlin

Boys basketball: Gold - Cade Mullins
Silver: Micah Cook

Frances Coral (Everett) Clum, age 94, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 5:10 PM at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born September 1, 1924 in Lima, Ohio to Delmar and Lucille (Swick) Everett, who preceded her in death.  Frances married James Corwin Clum on September 8, 1942 and he died November 12, 1992.       

A mom-to-mom sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 13, in the Ada Depot, 112 Central Ave.

The sale will include gently used baby and child items, such as clothing, toys, games, shoes, bedding, bottles, and maternity items.
