The Ada Music Boosters have announced that it's (almost) Purse Raffle time.

This is the 12th Annual Purse Raffle. There will be 15 games of bingo and a virtual raffle with three purses and many chance prizes.

Obituary for Telitha Ann Rayl

Telitha Ann Rayl, age 83, of Ada, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on May 29, 1940 in Lima, Ohio to the late Joseph and Anna (Mayer) Leiser.  On June 13, 1975 Telitha married Daniel J. Rayl who preceded her in death on May 4, 2006. 

Letter: Ada Athletic Boosters invitation to donate auction items

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the Ada Athletic Boosters will be holding their Annual Reverse Raffle at Liberty Oaks. Our organization provides support to all athletes at Ada Schools. This past year we have supported: 

Photography exhibit "Life & The Art of Living" and artists lecture at Elzay Gallery

Ohio Northern University Art & Design will host an artist lecture by Robbie and Robert Bailey, a "dynamic, photography creative team that specialize in both studio and environmental portraiture." Their photographs have been published in the New York Times as well as featured on The Today Show, The Discovery Channel, and NBC’s Nightly News. The Bailey’s fine art portraits have been exhibited worldwide and their State Fair Poultry Portraits are part of the permanent collection at North Carolina State University.

The talk beings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Elzay Gallery of Art on Ohio Northern’s campus. The Bailey’s photography show, Life & The Art of Living, is currently on exhibit.

County Line Church weather closing on January 16

County Line Church, 4227 N Hardin Rd, Harrod, has announced that its food and clothing pantries are closed on Tuesday, January 16 due to frigid temperatures.

Ada chamber meets January 17

On Wednesday, January17 the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will be having the first membership meeting of 2024.

The program includes will have a January - June event schedule and chamber updates. 

Marth Nau of the United Way of Hardin County and Morgan Ellis from HCCBA will be speaking and providing community updates for 2024. 

January 9 field reports from Ohio Division of Wildlife Officers 

Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two 
In August 2023, State Wildlife Officer Ethan Bingham, assigned to Williams County, patrolled Lake La Su An Wildlife Area. Officer Bingham contacted two individuals who were on the area past the 10:00 p.m. curfew and were in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. The items were seized as evidence and the individuals were issued summonses for the violations. Each individual paid $474 in fines and court costs.

Ada Board of Education welcomes two new members

On January 8 the Board of Education of the Ada Exempted Village Schools (AEVS) held their annual reorganization meeting. 

Two new board members were sworn in, Troy Erikson and Justin Hollon. Ron Fleming was elected as board president and Ted Griffith was elected as vice president. The fifth member of the board is Matt Gossman.

Fleming and Erickson were also named to a policy committee. Meetings for this committee will be announced in advance.

The members agreed to continue meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. The regular January meeting will be held at noon on Saturday, January 20. 

As discussed at meetings in late 2023, the school is now required to provide a second preschool classroom, which has been used for storage.
