If you think the poster for the 2022 Farmers & Merchants Picnic shows a busy day at Ada War Memorial Park on August 13, that's not the half of it.

Eva Wolke provided the Icon with a full itinerary for the day, ranging from all the acts in the talent show, the lineup for the dunk tank and the generous sponsors that make the event possible.

The parade will culminate at the park and come up S. Park Drive.

 

The wait is over. Ada Elementary School principal Jeremy Clark has provided the Icon with class lists for 2022-2023.

The class lists are attached and include the names of students in K-6 classes, with the following teachers:

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the following schedule for the Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival, which celebrates Ada's remarkable contribution to the sport of football. Every football used by the National Football League since 1955 has been made in Ada, Ohio's Wilson Football Factory.
This is a family friendly party with activities for all ages.

The Village of Ada council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8. The agenda for this meeting can be found on the village website HERE.

The meeting will take place in the 2rd floor Council Chamber in the Ada Municipal Buidling, 115 W. Buckeye Ave. 

ALGER⎯Ty David Gilroy passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his residence in Alger. He was born on May 12, 1982 in Lima to the late Charles David Gilroy and Jeannie Helton. 

Surviving are his siblings; Stephanie Montgomery of Florida, Somer (Chad) Hall of Alger, Tess Gilroy of Columbus, Briana (Chris) Hollon of Alger, Cody (Sarah) Staley of Harrod, nieces and nephews; Kylie Montgomery, Kameron Montgomery, Skylar Hall, Jayden Evans, Peyton Hall, Kennedy Hall, Kellen Hollon, Kamden Hollon, Harlyn Lowry, Laylyn Staley, Kylyn Staley, an aunt; Donna Weber of Alger, and a special friend; Emily Hopson of Ada, and her children; Avery, Alivea and Journie.

The Ada High School golf squad teed off its 2022 campaign Monday at the Bluffton Golf Course, with Leipsic winning the three-team Northwest Conference match.

The Vikings captured first with 172 strokes, followed closely by Bluffton (176) and Ada (264). Brevin Brandt of Leipsic was match medalist with a nine-hole score of 37.

Senior Geddes Klingler paced the Bulldogs with a score of 53. Junior Jack Baumgartner followed him by carding a 54. Dale Hoyt registered a 77, while Hayden Shaffer was the fourth Ada scorer with an 80. Sam Crawford added a score of 87.

The Drainage Installation Field Day scheduled for tomorrow at The Ohio State University at Lima campus farm has been moved to Tuesday, August 16, 2022, due to field conditions brought on by the recent rains in the area.

Field demonstrations by the Ohio Land Improvement Contractors of America, or OLICA, will begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, and will continue in an open-house-style format throughout the day until 3 p.m. at the field on the corner of Thayer and Reservoir roads.

Ohio Northern University will hold children’s auditions for the 2022 Holiday Spectacular musical extravaganza.

Auditions will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to the audition. Participants may be asked to sing and should be ready to participate in a dance call (jazz and/or tap shoes). Prepared dance or vocal solos will not be accepted.

2022 Holiday Spectacular performances will be staged on November 17, 18 and 19 at The Freed Center; and on December 2, 3 and 4 in Lima.

In addition to hosting one of its biggest events in August--the Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival on August 27--the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting the public to two events welcoming new businesses to town.

ODOT District 1 has announced the following construction project for Hardin County this week, impacting traffic in Dunkirk. All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. 68/Main Street in the Village of Dunkirk will close on Wednesday, August 10, for one day to repair the railroad. 

TRAFFIC IMPACT

Detour: U.S. 30 to SR 235 to SR 81 back to U.S. 68 (see map).

Official Detour Route: At the intersection of US68 and SR81, go west on SR81 to its intersection with SR235. Go north on SR235 to its interchange with US30. Go east on US30 to its interchange with US68. The same detour applies in reverse for the opposite direction of travel.
