A visit to the Ada Rotary Club

By Paula Scott, Ada Icon

As the new Ada Icon editor, I was invited to attend a weekly meeting of the Ada Rotary Club. While I’ve known about the Rotary for as long as I can remember, this was my first time attending a meeting. The experience taught me that I had a lot to learn about Rotary International and the Ada club.

My first impression: great turnout for a weekly meeting. Fourteen of the club’s seventeen members came for lunch, club business, and a presentation by Hardin County board of elections director Stephanie McCullough and board member Michael Hubbell.

The visiting Ada girls basketball team outscored county foe Hardin Northern 30-14 after intermission to win going away 47-31 Tuesday night, November 30.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 1-2 after the non-league win. Hardin Northern fell to 0-2 with the defeat.

Ada broke away from a 17-17 halftime tie with a 19-4 third quarter blowout to seize control.

"I am very proud of our response to the second half," said Bulldog head coach Morgan Bass. "Olivia Burkhart really stepped up as well as our team as a whole.

"They brought the intensity on defense and meshed well," she added.
