St. Paul's UCC pancake breakfast October 16

St Paul's United Church of Christ, on Twp Rd 25 between Twp. roads 50 and 60, will host a Pancake and Sausage breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday October 16.

28th Hardin Leadership Graduation Plans Announced

Twenty Hardin Leadership 2020-2021 participants will be recognized for completing their nine session Hardin Leadership program in two years due to the pandemic.

The celebration will be held on Thursday evening, October 14 at the Elk’s Lodge Banquet Room, 117 E. Franklin St., Kenton. Gathering begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner buffet beginning at 6:00 p.m. 

Representing the class with the “Class Reflections” will be Kendrick Garmon of Kenton and Deb Oestreich of Ada. Brad Ellis, Director of Behavioral Health for Coleman Health Services will be the Alumni speaker and will talk about “Finding Your Happy Place...No Mask Required.”

Ada runs at Kalida meet

Four Ada cross country runners competed in the Wildcat Invitational meet Saturday, October 2, at the Kalida Fish and Game Club.

Lady Bulldog sophomore Elsie Allen finished 87th in 26:20.5 to pace the Ada girls.    

Sophomore teammate Jillian Hazelton was close behind her in 90th place with a time of 26:59.9.

Senior Andrea Burgei of Kalida won the 117-runner girls race in a time of 19:16.5. Junior Taylor Spencer of Waynesfield-Goshen was second in 19:25.3.

Liberty-Benton won the girls team title with 58 points, Ottawa-Glandorf was second (81) and Van Buren third (86). Ada and 11 others did not have the five runners needed for a team score.

ONU men 16th at Louisville Classic

The Ohio Northern men's cross country team raced to a 16th-place finish out of 42 teams at the Louisville Classic on Saturday afternoon at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

In the Silver Race (Pre-Nationals), the Polar Bears (35-19 overall) scored 508 points and posted a total time of 2:12:41.40 and an average time of 26:32:28 on the 8,000-meter course.

Junior Billy Driemeyer (House Springs, Mo./Lindbergh) led the seven-man ONU contingent across the finish line, placing 49th overall out of 341 runners with a time of 25:37.9.

Junior Breydan Hann (Wooster) was the next Polar Bear to finish, placing 91st overall with a time of 26:21.4.

Covid-19 Boosters and flu shots are available from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at ONU HealthWise Pharmacy. Walk-in and scheduled appointments are also available. Please call the pharmacy at 419-772-3784 to schedule your appointment.

The CDC has now authorized a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot for previous Pfizer recipients who meet the certain criteria. Please note: Moderna and Johnson and Johnson/Janssen Vaccines do not have boosters available at this time.

The qualifications for a Covid-19 booster shot include:

Previously received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (two-part series)

Received their 2nd dose at least 6 months prior to getting the booster

Ada regular council agenda for October 5

The next regular meeting of the Village of Ada council is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. The agenda is attached.

Bulldog boys blanked by Black Knights

Playing at home, the Ada boys soccer team lost 5-0 to Van Buren in North Central Ohio Soccer Association action Thursday night at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs fell to 3-6-3 overall and 1-3 in NCOSA play with the defeat. 

Van Buren improved to 8-2 and 4-0 in NCOSA action to remain first in the six-team conference standings.

Ada sophomore goalkeeper Colton Long made eight saves in goal.  

The Bulldog boys (0-2-1 NWC) host Spencerville (6-4, 1-1 NWC) Monday, October 4. 

Ada will welcome Riverdale (4-4-3, 2-1 NCOSA) to War Memorial Stadium Thursday, Oct. 7.
