She's now ONU's all-time career singles leader

Mackenzie Wills named OAC women's tennis player of the week

 Senior Mackenzie Wills was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 22-28.

Wills became Ohio Northern's all-time career singles victories leader, leading ONU to a 9-0 non-conference victory at Marietta on Saturday at Beran Tennis Center.

Wills won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for her school record 84th singles victory, breaking the previous record she shared with Meghan Letizia, who accomplished the feat from 2012-16.

She also won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Wills is also second all-time at ONU with a career record of 165-48 and is 5th all-time with an 81-30 mark in doubles matches.

St. Paul's UCC invites you to an Easter egg "roll"

Friday at 2 p.m. - first 100 youth who attend will receive a bag of Easter treats

St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 4443 Township Road 25, Ada, will hold an Easter egg “roll” at 2 p.m., Friday, April 2.

The first 100 youth who attend will receive a bag of Easter treats. The event will continue until 3:30 p.m., or until the 100 bags are gone – whichever comes first.

The sponsors ask to keep traffic moving and to provide a safe experience, approach the church from Lima-Ada Road (County Road 50).

CHP Home Care and Hospice working on video

Featuring its annual memorial service to families served by its hospice program

CHP Home Care and Hospice is releasing an online video version of its annual memorial service to families served by its hospice program in 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns.

The memorial service is an important piece of CHP’s hospice program, offering a time of remembrance for both families and staff.

“Our staff and patient families look forward to this memorial service every year,” said Brent Tow, CHP President/CEO. “Families like to reconnect with the hospice nurses and staff who worked so closely with them while caring for their loved one.”

Cheyenne Lawrence, Caleb Jordan, USV Elk teenagers of the month

Two Upper Scioto Valley High School seniors are that school's Kenton Elks teenagers of the month for March.

The students are Caleb Jordan and Cheyenne Lawrence.

Caleb of Alger is a senior and plans to attend college hoping to purse a degree in digital media. He is on the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of American, yearbook staff, newpaper staff and worked in video and sound for school events. He is the senior class secretary.

He is the son of Junell and Jay Jordan.

ONU HealthWise Mobile Clinic designated as state-sponsored mass vaccination site to serve rural population

Six counties in 60 days.

That’s the scope of Ohio Northern University’s state-sponsored COVID-19 vaccine outreach to rural areas of Northwest Ohio.

HealthWise Mobile Clinic, ONU’s 38-foot RV operated by the Raabe College of Pharmacy, is scheduled to hit the road starting Wednesday, March 31.

Governor Mike DeWine recently designated HealthWise Mobile Clinic as a mass-vaccination site for serving those who don’t have easy access to larger metropolitan areas where vaccines are more readily available.

Ada HS grads Zac Beascher and Isaac Spar win in men's opener

MARIETTA — Senior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) became Ohio Northern's all-time career singles victories leader, leading ONU to a 9-0 non-conference victory at Marietta on Saturday at Beran Tennis Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 2-0, while the Pioneers fall to 0-3.

Wills won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for her school record 84th singles victory, breaking the previous record she shared with Meghan Letizia, who accomplished the feat from 2012-16.

She also joined with sophomore Jeorgia Templin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
