Deterra bags neutralizes pills, liquid and patches; will be distributed free this spring

What’s the big deal about the little pouch?

Ohio Northern University HealthWise and Healthy Lifestyles Coalition of Hardin County substance abuse committee have joined in partnership to distribute Deterra bags in the county.

The bags deactivate drugs in a safe, convenient and effective way. And, the bags are environmentally friendly. The pouch system neutralizes pills, liquid and patches.

Adellyn McPheron, ONU mobile clinic coordinator with ONU HealthWise, said that the bags are being distributed at no charge to the community this spring.

Friday at 7 p.m. at ONU Observatory

The ONU Astronomy Club welcomes Ada and the surrounding communities to the ONU Observatory on Friday, March 1, for a "Greatest Elongation of Mercury" event.

The word "Elongation" refers to the angular separation between Mercury and the Sun. Since Mercury's orbit remains closer to the Sun than the Earth, it can never be farther than about 28 degrees from the Sun.

This week, Mercury will be at its maximum elongation on the east side of the Sun.

It's elongation will actually be about 18.1 degrees since it will be near the perihelion (nearest point to the Sun) of its orbit.

January 24, 1950 the Ream Hardware was sold after being in business nearly 50 years. Major A.W. Ream started the hardware store in the former Wolfrom room now occupied by the feed department of the Amstutz hatchery (1950).

He had operated a plumbing shop here prior to that time. The store was later moved to the Doling bakery room now occupied by the Habit recreation; then to the old post office room on West Buckeye Avenue.
