ADA - The Ada volleyball team lost in three straight close sets to visiting power St. Henry Monday evening in a non-league bout between regional powers.
The Bulldogs (2-1) fell to the hard-hitting Redskins 25-13, 25-20, 25-21. SH improved to 3-1 with the victory.
Ada led 10-6 in set two and by 16-14 in the third game before losing both contests to late Redskin closing runs of 11-4 and 11-5, respectively.
Senior Melina Woods led Ada with 16 kills and 17 digs, but SH had too many weapons for the Bulldogs to contend with.
The Freed Center on the Ohio Northern University campus has lined up an impressive selection of performances for the 2017-18 school year.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 and 2 will host a joint event to highlight Ohio’s Move Over law at the Interstate 75 northbound rest area, south of Findlay.
Ohio’s Move Over law, enacted in 2004, was put in place to protect law enforcement officers, emergency responders and tow truck operators along Ohio’s highways. The law requires motorists to move over one lane or slow down when passing a vehicle with rotating or flashing lights.
In 2013 the law was expanded to include highway construction, maintenance and utility workers.
Blanchard Valley Health System has been affirmed as an A2 rating from Moody’s Investors Service. With this affirmation, the outlook is stable that Blanchard Valley Health System will maintain a strong operating performance and favorable balance sheet metrics.
This affirmation is a result of the health system’s solid operating performance, strong market position, healthy balance sheet metrics and favorable service area. Moody’s also acknowledged the health system’s high operating leverage.
January: the Ada roller skating hockey team lost to Lima. Players included Sanford and Harry Wright, James Ferrall, Kenneth Robnolte, Robert Lindsley, Homer Hawes and Robert Wallick.

March: Russell and Stella Hoover of DeGraff purchased the Ada Creamery and opened the Hoover Creamery at 227 North Main Street.
The 2018 United Way of Hardin County officially announced its campaign program, at the annual kick off breakfast, Thursday in Kenton.
The honorary chairman Dr Daniel DiBiasio and Chris Burns-DiBiasio have previous experience with United Way campaigns and expressed their commitment to United Way and belief of the great services it provides. "This is a very important program, and we want to do what we can, to achieve success," said the DiBiasios.

Football is just around the corner, and the ONU football coaching staff will hold Football U for anyone wanting to learn more about the game. It's free and open to the public. Here are details:
There will be a 1-hour basic level course Saturday. Registration is at 1 p.m., the session starting at 1:30 p.m. This course features Basic Level (Football 101) and Advanced Level (Football 452) sessions.
The Offensive 101 level session will run concurrently with the Defensive 452 session, and vice versa. Each session will be 30 minutes in duration.

FROM BLUFFTON ICON - Where were you when the sun blinked at 2:28 p.m.?
Many Icon viewers were wearing funny dark glasses and staring into space. Those who did have a story to tell their grandchildren. Ada and Bluffton were at 85 percent coverage of the great solar eclipse of 2017.
While not like a total eclipse, it was a very noticible afternoon.
The Ada Icon seeks viewers who live in the path of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse - or area viewers who traveled to see the eclipse at its full view.
