Ada's "poppy girl" Alice Cheney

Alice Cheney, a member of the Ada VFW Post 9381 Auxiliary, sells poppies at Country Market in Ada on Friday.

She sells poppies every year to assist veterans because her late husband, Dallas, saw a lot of combat in the European Theater during World War II. In addition, she had two brothers who served in that war.

The red poppy is a symbol of remembrance. Donations on Poppy Day remain local to help veterans and their families. (Monty Siekerman photo)

The Icon needs some assistance from viewers about this photo. Where was the dealership located and when did it go out of business.
