Kenton beats Ada in boys' soccer and girls' soccer

Lady Bulldogs fall to Kenton

ADA - The Ada girls soccer team lost a low-scoring county battle to visiting rival Kenton 2-0 Wednesday evening at the park.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-1 with the loss, while the Lady Wildcats improved to 2-0 with the victory.

Kenton led 1-0 at the half and added another goal in the second stanza to provide all the scoring.

Hannah Holland and Taylor Gilfillan netted the Wildcat goals. Kenton put 22 shots on goal compared to 13 shots fired by Ada.

Academic Boosters taking orders for Bulldog spiritware

Ada Academic Boosters spiritware campaign is now underway for 2016-17.

The Boosters have a wide selection of t-shirts, hoodies, 1/4 zip pull-overs, polos, hats, scarfs, head bands, gloves and stadium blankets available to order.

Orders on the accompanying form must be turned in to Ada High School Booster's mailbox by Friday, Sept. 2.

There's lots of programming at the Ada Public Library in September. In fact, there is somehting planned for nearly every day of the month.

Bright Pink 5K and fun run Sept. 17 at ONU

The second annual Bright Pink 5K and family fun run takes place in Ada during Ohio Northern’s Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 17. The race starts at 3 p.m., according to Carley Strzalka.

The event begins with registration at 2:15 p.m. at the ONU Pavillion. The race is held on The Green Monster on the ONU campus.

Registration is $15, which includes a t-shirt and raffle ticket. Participants must register by Sept. 1 for a guaranteed t-shirt. The $15 fee is waived for youth under 10 who are with a participating parent or guardian.

Bulldog sports: Volleyball sweeps USV; Upper Sandusky stops Ada

Lady Bulldogs sweep Rams

ADA - The Ada volleyball team swept visiting local arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley Tuesday night in a non-league match.

The victory improved the Lady Bulldog record to 3-1, while USV fell to 0-3.

The Lady Rams were scrappy and threatened in the final two sets but Ada overcame USV 25-7, 25-23, 25-20.

"We served hard and with good placement," said Ada head coach Melissa Gossard. "We came out on fire in the first set."

Junior Melina Woods led Ada with a dozen kills, 16 digs and added two aces. Classmate Maddie Gossard passed out 15 assists, served five aces and hit four kills.

Ada Library Digitizing Ada H.S. Yearbooks

Where are the Ada High School yearbooks?! They've disappeared from the shelves at the Library!!

Never fear, in an attempt to make more of our collection accessible to all via the web, we're sending out Ada High yearbooks to be digitized! The yearbooks will be gone for roughly 2 months, then some time later this fall, or early winter, we will unveil the yearbooks on our website--that means access to our yearbook collection 24/7!

Football 101 for Women, Saturday at Dial-Roberson Stadium

The Ohio Northern football coaching staff will offer a special Football 101 for Women program on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 1-2:30 at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The program, which is also available to men, will include presentations on using the weight room, the rules of football, equipment and football strategy in a classroom setting followed by interactive and on the field drills on Bill Robinson Field.

All participants are encouraged to stick around for ONU's Intra-squad scrimmage immediately following the seminar.

Harvest and Herb queen candidate details here

Ada High School junior and senior girls (ages 16 to 18) are invited to enter this year’s Harvest and Herb Festival Queen contest. This year’s festival is Saturday, Sept. 17.

Applications forms are at the bottom of this story and in the Ada High School office. The application deadline is 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7. Judging takes place at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, in the second floor conference rooms in McIntosh Center at Ohio Northern University.

Contestants will complete three brief essays on:

Children’s auditions set for ONU ‘Holiday Spectacular’

Ohio Northern University will hold children’s auditions for the “Holiday Spectacular” at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the campus’ Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

What did you read this summer - and look at all these announcements from Ada schools

Summer is over, but the Ada school library wants to know what Ada students read over the summer. There's a contest with prizes involved.

Students are invited to stop in the media centerfor contest details and your chance to win. Students and staff will also be entered into a drawing for any new books checked out between now and Friday, Aug. 26.
