What has white fur, a black nose and walks on four legs? At Ohio Northern University, the answer to that question is usually “polar bear.” But if you ask it around campus lately, don’t be surprised if you hear “Viking” in response more often than not.

No, the newest member of the ONU family isn't a polar bear. He’s a 7-month-old golden retriever puppy named Viking. And, like the rest of his ONU brethren, he’s special.

Ada HS volleyball coach, Melissa Gossard, is the co-coach of the 2014 All-Star Division IV Volleyball match in November.

On Oct 7 we had our first event of the year, the Ada Friends Kick-off Party which was a huge success. The party saw 59 out of our 85 matches for the year and many parents attend the event, and total attendance for the event surpassed 160 people by the end of the night.

The annual haunting of Ada’s Main Street and sidewalks takes place next week.

On Monday, Oct. 27, the annual Halloween parade sponsored by the Ada Kiwanis takes place. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., in the parking lot behind the Municipal Building. The parade begins at 6 p.m. The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and the Buy Local committee will also take part in the festivities with soup and pie cook-offs. Several area businesses will be open until 8 p.m., and horse drawn wagon rides will add to the downtown excitement.

Forty-five sports seasons ago the Ada High School Pep Club had its beginning.  This was a popular club for many area school in the 1970s. This photo shows the first year of the club, during the 1969-70 school year.
