ONU flute instructor to perform Oct. 21 recital

The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents “Innovation, Transformation and Rediscovery,” a recital by Erin Helgeson Torres, instructor of flute at Ohio Northern University, in the Snyder Recital Hall in the Presser Building at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21. The event is free and open to the public.          

ONU senior receives top award at communications conference

Ohio Northern University senior Lauren Staley, a communications and public relations major from Tipp City, Ohio, received the award for top undergraduate paper at the 78th annual Ohio Communications Association (OCA) Conference at Franklin University held Oct. 4-5.

Staley’s paper focused on research on Calvin Klein and the perception formed through the use of sex in advertising. Staley conducted this research as a part of her communications research class at ONU last spring. Staley was informed in advance that her paper had been chosen for presentation at the conference and was presented the award for the top undergraduate paper this past weekend.

Theresa Bingman picks 10 correct games in football contest

The winner of The Icon Football Contest this week is Theresa Bingman.  She correctly picked all 10 games. 

Baja SAE team captures third at Midnight Mayhem event

One of the three Ohio Northern University Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) cars that competed at the Midnight Mayhem in Bedford, Ky., Oct. 4-5 took third place in the endurance race.

Mom-to-mom sale Oct. 18 in Jenera

A mom-to-mom sale takes place Saturday, Oct. 18, from  9 a.m. to noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9340 Township Road 32, Jenera. Donations of two canned goods at the door are accepted.

Start us off by telling us about your college, your major, and your year.
I am a senior in the Biology program at D’Youville College. D’Youville is a teeny tiny private school located in downtown Buffalo, New York. A little bit different from Ada! To get to Buffalo from Ada it is about a six hour drive, so I don’t come home often.

Trailing by a point with just over five minutes left in the game...never give up on these Bulldogs

A late game blocked punt led to a Jordan Bailey touchdown, giving Ada a lead they would not relinquish, as the Bulldogs would go on to defeat the unbeaten Crestview Knights, 22-15 on Friday. 

Trailing by a point with just over five minutes left in the game, the Bulldog special teams would play the role of hero. On fourth and long, a mob of Ada defenders blocked Crestview punter Seth Moser's kick and Sophomore Jordan Bailey scooped up the loose ball and took it to the house.

Solid defense the rest of the way preserved the Bulldog victory, moving them to (4-3) overall and (3-2) in the Northwest Conference.

Area professors' works in exibit at ArtSpace/Lima

Professoriate: The University Does Art, a group exhibit featuring recent work by university faculty in Northwest Ohio, will open at ArtSpace/Lima with a reception for the artists from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, November 7.
