Court of Honor recognizes recent achievements of Ada Boy Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 124 of Ada recently held a Court of Honor to recognize the Scouts’ achievements earned over the past few months.

Khyler Stoll served as Master of Ceremonies to complete his Communications Merit Badge. He opened the ceremony with Jared Hunt leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance and Deavan Scott leading the Scout Oath.

Theo Hardesty began telling the group of parents about the flag placement and retrieval from Woodlawn Cemetery that the troop participates in yearly.

Ada Flea Market: "There's someone for everyone"

There’s a song by Arlo Guthrie “You Can Get Anything You Want At Alice’s Restaurant.”

While, no relation to Arlo, Ada’s Gus Guthrie’s Ada Flea Market is sort of like Alice’s Restaurant.

Gus says that there’s something for everyone at Ada Flea Market. Located at 111 N. Main St., Ada, the market is open Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Everything you want...including antiques, furniture, electronic items, kitchenware, toys, book, games, collectibles and lots more.

Ada police call logs Sept. 22 -28

It's October - time to tell us your all-time favorite horror flicks

My favorite time of year is now. Fall’s weather is perfect and we also celebrate my favorite holiday: Halloween. We’re about a month away from seeing costumed kiddos roaming the streets, but it’s just the right time for getting into spooky movies.

I challenge you this: starting now, watch one horror movie per week. On Oct. 31, report back to us at the Icon with your list of movies watched and tell us which one was your absolute favorite!

50 Ada High homecomings ago...1964

Anticipating Ada High School's homecoming later this month, The Icon looks back several homecoming ago.

Bluffton Nov. 29 Blaze of Lights parade invites Ada organizations to participate

“Happy Holidays!”

Plans for the year’s Bluffton Blaze of Lights are underway. This year’s 28th annual Thanksgiving weekend event is Saturday, Nov. 29, using the theme “Happy Holidays!” The Blaze committee invites Ada groups and businessees to participate in the Blaze parade.

The Blaze is an event sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. Fred Steiner, chamber director, said, “Most people think of the Blaze as a one-evening event. It’s really the entire holiday season because several events take place until New Years.”
