Charter Realty open house at 0281 SR 81 on Sunday

Charter Realty,117 E. Lincoln Ave., Ada, will have an open house at one of its residential listings this weekend.

Sharon Music, realtor, said the open house is at 0281 State Route 81, Ada on Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H report

Liberty Belles and Boys 4-H club had meetings Tuesday, May 18th and the week before April 30th.

During the April 30th meeting are group talked about the time and date of flower pick-ups, it was also announced that book money is due. At the end of the meeting the volunteer committee got together and talked about the upcoming food drive.

Demonstrations were done by: Andrew Robey, Evan Smittle, Eli Garmen, Josie Boehm, Jacob Butterfield, and Mackenzie Wills. Kiley Bailey led the pledge of allegiance and Megan Light led the 4-H pledge.

Hardin County Hootanannies 4-H Club report

The Hardin Co Hootanannies 4-H club’s last meeting was opened by president, Laura Spradlin.  Meadow Cromer led the American flag pledge and Seth Davis led the 4-H pledge.  Secretary, Miranda Holbrook did roll call and there were 14 members present.

There's a purse with $100 tucked away at Tuesday's auction/raffle

Several events are on the Ada Music Booster and school music organization’s calendars in the next few weeks.

The boosters will hold a jewelry and purse auction/raffle fundraiser at the Ada VFW Hall at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:15 p.m.), Tuesday, May 14.

Over $1,500 of jewelry and $3,000 of purses will be auctioned off or raffled off. One of the purses has $100 cash inside. There is also a silent auction with products such as lia Sophia jewelry, Yankee Candles, Pampered Chef, handbags and similar items.

Ada's own Charles Van Dyne named Ohio's Elk of the Year

Charles Van Dyne, Ada attorney and member of the Kenton Elks Lodge #157, has been named the Elk of the Year by the Ohio Elks Association. 

Van Dyne was nominated by his home lodge for his many years of dedication to not only the Kenton Lodge but also the Ohio Elks Association and the national organization, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. 

Van Dyne’s was initiated into the Kenton Lodge in 1957. Some of the major milestones of his Elk career include:

• serving as Exalted Ruler of Kenton Lodge in 1968-1969,
• elected chairman of the West Central District in 1977
• named a District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler in 1980-1981. 

Five Polar Bears named All-OAC in Baseball

Five Ohio Northern baseball players earned All-OAC honors in voting done by the league's 10 head coaches.

Seniors Cory Martin and Austin Price and sophomore Jack LaMarca all earned Second Team All-OAC accolades, while sophomore Dan Belliveau and freshman Ben Glischinski were named All-OAC Honorable Mention.

These are the first All-OAC accolades for all five players.

Martin led the team with 32 RBI's on the season.

He hit .286 and recorded his 100th career hit on April 14.

Martin concludes his career with 103 hits, which is tied for 49th most in program history.

Century 21 Beacon Realty open house May 19

Century 21 Beacon Realty, 208 N. Main St., Ada, will hold an open house for one of its listings  this weekend.

Richland Manor named one of 2013 Best Employers in Ohio

Richland Manor, a Trilogy Health Services community, has been named one of the 2013 Best Employers in Ohio (BEO), according to Sarah Foster, Executive Director of Richland Manor.

The annual list of the Best Employers in Ohio was created by the Ohio SHRM State Council and Best Companies Group.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Employers in Ohio. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, and was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation.
