The Ada Police will hold a Bike Rodeo on Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ada Police Department parking lot. Each participating rider will receive a free bike helmet.

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays in June at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo begins at 6:55 p.m.

Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages. Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lions Club and Ada Music Boosters.

There is still time for high school students to register for many of the outstanding summer camp courses provided through Ohio Northern University's Summer Academic and Honors Institute (SAHI). 

With sessions running June 17-22 and June 24-29, there is sure to be the perfect course for any intellectually curious high school student who wants to do something this summer.

Late May and June will be busy for Ada's ReStore Community Center. Rev. Patricia Searfoss provided The Icon with ReStore current calendar of events.

May 29, 2012 - Free community meal from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. provided by Ada PEO;  all are welcome

May 30, 2012 - Lunchtime at ReStore begins; student summer lunch program; free lunch for students on every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

May 30, 2012 - Wild Wednesday Sale; a variety of books, many children's books included

June 5, 2012 - free community meal from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. provided by Ada Kiwanis all are welcome

June 6, 2012 - ReStore Board of Directors meeting at 6:00 p.m.

Dancers' Elite, Bluffton dance studio's 32nd annual recital "Follow Your Dream," is set for early June, according to Deb Garlock, dance studio owner.

The recital is at 7 p.m., Friday, June 8, and Saturday, June 9 at the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium.

Tickets are $6 for ages 3 and up (2 and under free) both presale and at the door. Persons interested in pre-sale or more information may contact Garlock at  419-235-0811 or 419-358-0900.

Virginia E. White ,age 79 died Thursday May 24, 2012 at 11:55 P.M. at her residence.
She was bortn October 19, 1932 in Alger, Ohio to Dell and Pauline (Gunn) Lawrence. They preceded her in death.

What brought you to Ada?

At ONU I work as an International Services Coordinator.  My job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Getting students prepared for the arrival to Northwest Ohio, welcoming the students at Ohio Northern University, and develop a support system for any other problems they may face while they are here.  The ultimate goal is to facilitate a positive experience both academically and socially for the students so they may achieve all of their university goals while they are here.

  Lyman Jordan, 81, died at 3:38 a.m. May 22, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Ada resident Don Traxler recently received the Northwestern Ohio Education Association's District Service Award-Retired.

Traxler is retired from a multi-tiered career in education having taught from the elementary to the college level. He obtained his bachelor and master's degrees from Bowling Green State University and his Ph.d. from The Ohio State University.

As a retired member of NWOEA Traxler has been a supporter of the association in many capacities. Currently he is a member of the NWOEA Retired Committee, and uses his background in teacher education to work with college chapters in the association.
