Lima mayor and ONU alumna shares insights on Dr. Martin Luther King legacy

Ohio Northern University law graduate, attorney, and Lima mayor Sharetta Smith, JD ’10, delivered an impactful address during the University’s MLK chapel service on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Smith is Lima’s first woman and first African-American mayor. She was elected in November 2021.

In her remarks, Smith reflected upon the powerful words delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at ONU in January 1968, just a few months before his assassination.

While Dr. King is remembered for being a tireless advocate for justice, equality, and freedom, he was also a preacher, she reminded the audience.

Patty and Robert Lydic light up ONU field house with new video display

A new, state-of-the-art video board is lighting up competitive events in the Field House at Ohio Northern University, thanks to the generosity of Patricia (Patty) and Robert Lydic, BS ’97.

ONU held a dedication ceremony for the Lydic-Croy Video Board on Friday, January 17, during an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) indoor track and field meet supported by and named in honor of the donors as the Patty and Rob Lydic Invitational.

ONU to host RxPLORE Day, February 17

The Ohio Northern University Rudolph H. Raabe College of Pharmacy will host RxPLORE Day on February 17. Students enjoy a free morning of small group activities with Pharmacy faculty and students in ONU classrooms and labs.

Attendees learn about career pathways in Pharmacy and how the ONU program prepares its graduates to be leaders in the profession.

ONU receives $1.19 million Choose Ohio First grant to support STEM students
